How does a 1/4" blade protect what's in the box?
A carton wall is about 1/8" thick; a blade that reaches only a quarter-inch cuts the wall and the tape but physically cannot reach deep enough to slash the product inside.
Why is the exposure listed slightly differently in different places?
It is the line's open verification item — the round-tip blade exposes 1/4" and a standard tip about 3/8"; the figures reconcile by blade type, and all are short. The practical truth (reaches tape and one wall of corrugated, not the contents) holds regardless.
How is this different from the 42065?
The 42067 is a fixed 1/4"; the 42065 is a 1/4"–7/16" adjustable. Same metal body and same short home base — the 42065 simply adds a little adjustable reach.
Metal or the orange plastic knife?
Metal — die-cast, rugged, the most durable body in the safety group. The Ultra Light trades that for light weight on high-volume work.
Can I make it plunge-cut with a pointed blade?
Don't — the round tip is deliberate so the blade cannot stab product or hand, and a pointed blade also changes the exposure Hyde's figures assume .
