How is it "self-retracting"?
The blade is out only while you hold the button; release it and the blade retracts on its own, so a knife set down or dropped closes itself.
Why the short 1/4"–7/16" exposure?
To part tape and light board without reaching the contents — it is the content-protection, light-carton size. For thick goods, step to the 1/2" 42060 or the 11/16" metal 42062.
Why is the exposure listed differently in different places?
It is the line's open verification item — catalog, store title, and family copy give slightly different figures that reconcile by blade type; all are short, and the practical truth (reaches tape and light board, not the contents) holds regardless.
Why polypropylene instead of metal?
