Why is the exposure listed differently in different places?
It is the line's open verification item — the catalog says 1/4"–7/16", the store title says 5/16"–3/8", and Hyde's copy says round-tip 1/4" / standard 3/8". They reconcile by blade type, and all of them are short; the practical truth (reaches tape and one wall of corrugated, not the contents) holds regardless.
How does a short blade protect what's in the box?
A carton wall is about 1/8" thick; a blade that reaches only a quarter to three-eighths of an inch cuts the wall and the tape but cannot physically reach deep enough to slash the product inside.
Why metal instead of the orange plastic one?
Durability and a premium feel — the die-cast body is the most rugged, longest-lived knife of the safety group. The 42060 trades that for light weight and adds reach for thick goods.
Can I make it plunge-cut by fitting a pointed blade?
Don't — the round tip is deliberate, so the blade cannot stab product or hand; a pointed blade also changes the exposure Hyde's figures assume .
What blade does it come with?
