CHOOSE A DIFFERENT TOOL WHEN
  • Field coverage — 7/8" is a detail width; a whole wall is a job for a wider head.
  • It is not filable: reach for steel (the 11000/11050 narrow blades on their own heads) if you want the scrape-and-file rhythm, or a diamond hone if you insist on dressing carbide.
  • It is not a pry bar and not a struck tool — brittleness punishes both.
  • And it is host-specific: the triangular 7/8" carbide fits the 10600 only.

THE JOB, THE REASON, AND THE BETTER TOOL

How the pros run it

01

Steep angle, edge trailing, pull toward the body with downforce over the cut

the pull mechanics are the same as the steel blades, but the carbide edge lets you keep cutting hard coatings long past where steel would need a file. Use the point deliberately: lead a corner into a channel, work along it, and let the edge follow. Do not pry with it and do not lever on the corner — carbide is hard but brittle, and prying or corner-striking chips it. When an edge finally dulls, rotate; when all three are gone, replace.

Asked before buying

BUYER QUESTIONS, ANSWERED BEFORE YOU ORDER
Which scraper does it fit?
The Hyde 10600 (7/8", triangular carbide). Nothing else.
Why triangular?
Three edges to rotate and three points that reach into channels and corners.
Can I sharpen it?
Not with a file — carbide only takes a diamond hone. Rotate the edges, then replace.
Steel or carbide for detail work?
Carbide (this blade) for hard coatings at pace; steel narrow blades if you'd rather file and spend less.
Why not use it on a wall?
7/8" is a detail width — a field wants a wider head.
