A buyer-to-bench guide for matching the 13 registered scraper-blade products without guessing
This guide does not widen a fitment, infer a fastener, or turn a similar-looking blade into an interchangeable one.
Time: allow enough uninterrupted bench time to identify the host, find its exact retention instructions, remove the old blade under control, inspect the seat, install the replacement, and prove retention. No universal change time is stated because the 13 products span different holders and the held evidence does not establish one common mechanism.
Difficulty: the physical work may be short; the consequential work is identity and fitment. Stop when the host model, blade match, retention method, or installed condition is uncertain.
Everything else: the exact host scraper and its current manufacturer instructions; clean, stable bench support; good inspection light; a means of recording the blade as found; the exact tool, if any, named by the host instructions for its retention system; a clean cloth or soft brush that will not damage the seating surfaces; a rigid, closable container for removed sharp parts; the edge- and hand-protection method required by the host instructions, workplace, and task assessment; and safe witness material appropriate to the scraper’s established use. This guide does not invent a glove class, fastener tool, cleaning chemical, lubricant, torque, witness substrate, or disposal rule.
Before the bench: make the system decision
Identify the host before shopping for a blade
Start with the scraper, not the old blade. Clean only enough of the handle or head to read its model marking. Record the model exactly, including every digit. Photograph the complete tool, both faces of the installed blade, and the blade’s position in the holder before loosening anything.
A blade width or outline is not an identity. Two blades can share a nominal width and still differ at the seat, retention interface, edge arrangement, or intended holder. A store title, an old crew label, a loose blade found in the same box, and “it looks right” are leads only. The accepted match is the one stated for the exact blade and host below. If the host model cannot be established, do not order by appearance and do not open a replacement package to conduct a forced trial.
Also decide whether the problem is actually the blade. Quarantine the complete tool if the holder is cracked, bent, loose, badly corroded, contaminated with material that prevents inspection, or missing a retention part. A sharp new edge cannot repair a damaged host. If the old blade is chipped, distorted, fractured, or sitting unevenly, preserve that evidence until the seat and retention system have been inspected; the blade may be showing a holder problem rather than ordinary wear.
Choose the host system, then the supported blade
Use this tree in order.
Is it the classic 10400 molding scraper?
The accepted single-shape hollow-profile restock is 10410, identified as the teardrop blade for the 10400.
Choose it only as an assortment whose parent is known; do not promise that a particular shape is inside. When one exact teardrop is required, 10410 is the proved identity.
Do not transfer either product into a 10450 or 10460 merely because all three tools scrape contours. No interchange is established.
Is it a 10450 or 10460 quick-release contour scraper?
The proved restock is 10461 for both hosts.
Match a removed blade and its working contour within the supplied system; do not assign an unpublished profile name or dimension.
Do not install 10410 or 10430 in this holder. The 10400 single-style system and the 10450/10460 multi-style system are separate unless Hyde supplies an exact interchange statement.
Is it a Black & Silver® Lifetime pull scraper?
10500 host → 11000. The accepted match is the 1-inch, 2-edge replacement blade for the 10500.
10510 host → 11050. The accepted match is the 1-1/2-inch, 2-edge replacement blade for the 10510.
10530 host → 11120 or 11125. Both are the 1-1/2-inch, 4-edge blade with two rough and two smooth edges; 11120 is the individual format and 11125 is the 2-pack. Quantity is the only established difference between these two.
10550 host → 11150. The accepted match is the 5-inch, 2-edge blade sold as a 2-pack for the 10550.
Do not infer a match to a 10520 or 10540 from width, family name, or another guide’s shorthand. A same-width blade is not permission to cross systems.
The authored guides place these Lifetime blades in a maintained steel-edge model: use available working edges and maintain an eligible edge under an approved method before treating every dull event as automatic disposal. That is a service-model distinction, not a sharpening procedure.
Is it a MAXXGRIP PRO® carbide pull scraper or the 09190 dust-capture scraper?
10600 host → 11160. The accepted match is the 7/8-inch triangular, 3-edge carbide blade for the 10600.
10610 host → 11171, with 11172 as the smaller-pack identity inherited from the authored line relationship. The 11171 exact listing establishes a 2-inch, 2-edge tungsten-carbide blade, a 25-pack, and fit to the 10610 and 09190.
09190 host → 11171 on the exact 11171 listing. Treat 11172 as the inherited smaller-pack path only with the flag above.
Do not assign either 2-inch blade to the 2-1/2-inch 10620. Carbide follows a replaceable service model in this guide: expose another established working edge where the exact blade provides one, then replace a spent or damaged blade. No filing recipe, honing recipe, edge-life multiple, or service interval is authorized here.
Is it an in-line hammer scraper 19430, 19440, or 19450?
19451 is the accepted 4-inch reversible, resharpenable replacement blade for all three in-line hammer-scraper hosts.
19452 is the accepted 6-inch reversible, resharpenable replacement blade for the same three hosts.
Select 4 inches when the established job needs more concentrated force at the edge; select 6 inches when the established job needs wider shearing coverage. Width changes work behavior, not host identity.
Do not generalize this pairing to an offset scraper.
Decide maintained edge, fresh working edge, or replacement
Separate four conditions before opening the holder:
Another established edge is available. A 2-edge blade can present its other edge; the accepted 4-edge 11120/11125 has two rough and two smooth edges; the triangular 11160 has three edges; 19451 and 19452 are reversible. This describes available edges, not an orientation instruction. How the specific holder releases, turns, and retains its blade still comes from that host’s instructions.
The edge is ordinarily dull but the product is documented as maintainable. Keep sharpening outside this change guide. Use only a qualified method for that exact material and geometry.
The host and blade disagree. Any mismatch in model, seat, hole or slot pattern, outline, clearance, or retention is a stop. Do not enlarge, drill, bend, shim, trim, or force the replacement. Re-close and quarantine the components until exact fitment is resolved.
No universal service-life number belongs in this decision. Coating, substrate, buried fasteners, impact, technique, edge material, and holder condition alter wear. Change on inspected condition and supported identity, not an invented number of hours, rooms, or strokes.
The qualified Tier-1 blade-change workflow
Isolate the tool and make the bench safe
End the scraping operation completely. Put down any associated powered equipment and isolate it under its own instructions; this guide changes a hand-tool blade and does not authorize servicing an energized or moving system. Move the scraper to a clear, stable bench away from the workpiece, foot traffic, waste handling, and other loose blades.
Secure the tool so it cannot roll, pivot, or drop when retention releases. Protect the edge from unintended contact and keep hands outside its projected travel. Apply the hand- and edge-protection method required by the exact tool instructions and the workplace assessment. No universal PPE material or rating is asserted here.
Place the rigid spent-sharp container within reach before the old blade is loose. The container should receive the blade without a second carry across the room. Keep the new blade packaged until identity, condition, and the release method have been confirmed.
Record orientation and retention as found
Photograph both sides of the holder close enough to show the blade, seat, retaining parts, and any markings. Add a simple bench note: host model, blade product selected, which working edge was presented, visible bevel or face relationship, and every retention part present. Record; do not infer.
Orientation can determine whether a scraper cuts, skates, loosens, or exposes an unintended edge. This guide intentionally gives no universal bevel-up, bevel-down, rough-edge, smooth-edge, point, left/right, screw-head, or fastener direction. The 13-node evidence does not establish one orientation across these systems. If the exact host instructions and the as-found record do not resolve orientation, stop.
Inspect the unopened replacement against its product identity. Confirm that the model on the package is the model selected in Step 2. If the package contents disagree with the listing, or 10430 does not contain the profile needed, do not make the job fit what arrived.
Use only the exact retention instruction
Find the current instruction for the host model. Identify every retention part, the exact release tool if one is required, the controlled release direction or sequence, and the reassembly instruction. Do not substitute a tool because it happens to engage the fastener, and do not transfer a mechanism from a sibling scraper.
Only one mechanism in this 13-product evidence set is explicit enough to name generally: the 10461 belongs to the 10450/10460 system with a quick-release lever for tool-free blade change. Operate the lever according to the exact host instructions; do not invent the missing motions.
If the current host instruction cannot be obtained or does not match the tool on the bench, stop rather than improvising.
Release the old blade under control
Stabilize the holder with the edge pointed away from all hands and bodies. Apply the exact release instruction gradually while maintaining control of both blade and retention parts. Assume the released blade can shift or drop as clamping force ends. Do not pry under an edge, twist a carbide corner, strike the head, or use the replacement blade as a lever.
Lift the old blade by its non-edge faces only where that can be done without entering the edge path. Move it directly to a protected inspection position or the rigid spent-sharp container. If a blade is stuck, retention remains loaded, a part turns without releasing, or the holder deforms, stop. More force is not a diagnostic.
Keep every washer, plate, clamp, pin, screw, lever component, or other part in its as-found order. Those names are categories, not a claim that any particular host contains them. If an unexpected part appears or anything is missing, quarantine the tool until the exact assembly is identified.
Inspect and clean the seating surfaces
With the blade removed, use inspection light to examine the seat and retention interfaces. Look for packed coating, grit, corrosion, raised burrs, cracks, bending, wear, stripped or damaged retention features, and witness marks showing that the old blade had shifted. Compare what is present with the host instructions and the before photograph.
Remove only loose residue by a method permitted for the exact host. Do not scrape the seat with the new blade; do not grind a high spot, flatten a clamp, straighten a holder, chase a thread, add lubricant, or introduce cleaner unless the manufacturer instruction authorizes it. A chemically clean but altered seat is not a valid repair.
Dry and inspect again. The replacement must be able to lie in the intended seat without rocking, bowing, or being held off by residue. If it cannot, stop. A forced blade stores the mismatch as stress and releases it later during use.
Install without force
Open the correct replacement over the bench. Inspect it for shipping damage, corrosion, distortion, chipped carbide, damaged profile points, or a defective seat interface. Compare its identity and physical interface with the removed blade and the exact host instruction. Similarity supports inspection; it does not override a model mismatch.
Place the replacement in the recorded and instructed orientation. It should enter the seat using the normal hand-controlled motion described for that holder. Do not hammer, pry, bend, drill, file the mounting interface, or pull it into position by tightening retention. If the blade will not settle before retention is applied, remove it and diagnose the mismatch.
Reinstall every retention part in the specified order and engage it by the exact host procedure. “Tight enough,” an improvised turn count, and a value borrowed from a sibling are not substitutes. If the procedure gives no recoverable release and secure instruction, the tool remains out of service.
Verify retention before returning to work
First perform a stationary inspection. Confirm that the blade is fully seated, evenly retained, clear of unintended contact, and in the documented orientation. Confirm that the release mechanism is returned to its service position and that no retention part remains on the bench. Apply only the non-cutting, hand-controlled checks allowed by the host instructions. Do not thumb-test sharpness or pull directly on an exposed edge.
Then make a safe witness test on representative scrap or other witness material allowed for the exact scraper’s established application. Clear other people from the projected tool and debris path. Begin with the lowest controlled working force that lets the edge engage. Make a short pass, stop, return to the bench, and inspect the blade and retention again.
A passed witness shows the blade remained seated and the tool performed without shift, chatter caused by looseness, abnormal drag, interference, or damage. It does not expand substrate compatibility and does not prove a universal service life. If the blade moves, the holder changes position, the cut is abnormal, a new mark appears at the seat, or any uncertainty remains, stop and quarantine the assembly.
Close the change
Record the host, installed blade product, date or job identifier used by the shop, condition of the removed blade, reason for the change, retention instruction used, witness result, and any open flag. Return an unused working edge to protected storage only if the workplace’s sharp-control procedure permits it and identity remains attached.
This guide does not classify the blade as ordinary trash, scrap metal, or regulated waste; coatings and site rules can change that determination.
Reopen the decision whenever the host, blade supplier, package identity, retention parts, instructions, coating, substrate, witness method, or operator qualification changes. A previously successful fit proves that prior configuration, not every similar one.
What goes wrong — and the stop or recovery
The replacement is the right width but will not seat. Width is not fitment. Remove it without altering either part, return to the host-model tree, and verify the exact blade identity. Do not force or modify it.
The package and product page disagree. Preserve the package, blade, listing identity, and lot information available. Quarantine it. The physical item does not become correct because the URL was correct.
The old blade has no readable model. Identify the host. If the host is also unreadable, stop and obtain authoritative identification; silhouette matching is not enough.
The replacement fits loosely before retention. Do not assume clamping will cure it. Confirm the intended seat and all retention components. Looseness can indicate the wrong blade, missing part, worn holder, or wrong orientation.
The blade bows or rises while retention is engaged. Release it under control. Inspect for debris, reversed orientation, a mismatched interface, damaged retention, or a distorted blade. Never tighten through the bow.
A maintained steel edge cuts but leaves a repeated track. Stop and inspect for a nick, bent blade, uneven seat, burr, or holder shift. Sharpness alone is not release.
Use the confirmed 10410 when the required shape is the 10400 teardrop, or resolve the needed product before opening the host.
Use 11171 where its exact listing’s 10610/09190 fit and tungsten-carbide identity are required as direct proof.
The tempting cross-fits are unresolved. Route the buyer to the adjacent exact-fit lookup rather than stretching this guide’s denominator.
The tool passes assembly inspection but fails the witness. Remove it from service. Recheck identity, orientation, seating, retention, host condition, and witness suitability. Do not compensate with more working force.
A qualified general workflow controls the bench; it does not invent the missing product-specific release.

The durable-holder/replenished-edge scraper is a practical trade system: the holder remains in the kit while edges are exposed, maintained where supported, and replaced when spent or damaged. Use the host model and the accepted blade-to-host match. Width helps explain work behavior after fitment is proved; it does not prove the seat or retention interface.

Are 11120 and 11125 different blades?
No established blade difference exists. They are the same 1-1/2-inch 4-edge configuration; 11120 is individual and 11125 is a 2-pack.
Are 11171 and 11172 equally proved?
The 11171 exact listing establishes tungsten carbide and fit to 10610/09190.
Can every steel blade here be filed the same way?
