It is not a detail tool — muntins and channels want the 7/8" triangular 10600 or the steel 10500.
It is not a filing tool (no file touches carbide), not a pry or struck tool (brittleness is the tax), and not the automatic choice for casual scraping, where the self-rescuing steel heads are cheaper to own.
And it is not a dust-capture tool on its own — the shrouded 09190 is the head built for that, feeding a HEPA vac.

Pull toward you at a steep angle, downforce over the edge
the family stroke, owned by the scrapers line doc. Let carbide's hardness do the work: answer slowed cutting with a flip or a substrate check, never doubled pressure — carbide under excess downforce doesn't bite deeper, it finds something to chip on. Keep the pull straight; twisting corner-loads the blade, and corners are where chips start. Respect the 2" width — it concentrates downforce on faces, sills, and casings and bridges nothing wider. And the boundary rides with every card: hard, old, multi-coat failure is pre-1978 territory, so assume lead, work wet and contained, and treat paid disturbance as RRP-governed, certified-firm work per the scrapers line doc — and note that dust-controlled scraping is what the 09190 shroud exists for, on the same 2" carbide blade family (EPA — Lead RRP Program).

What blade fits it?
The 2" two-edge carbide blade, claimed "Replacement for HYDE scraper #10610" — restocked as the 11170 (single, marked "Closeout" on Hyde's page), the 11172 (5-pack), or the 11171 (25-pack). The 11171 pack also fits the 09190 Dust-Free Scraper, per Hyde.
Can I sharpen it?
No — carbide is harder than a mill file, and the 11200 file is scoped to carbon steel. Flip to the second edge, then replace. (A diamond hone physically works; Hyde publishes no procedure .)
How is it different from the 10620?
No pull knob and no Hammer Head® inset, and 2" instead of 2-1/2" — a one-hand field head versus a two-handed heavy head.
Carbide or steel?
Carbide (this) for production and hard old coatings, where holding an edge across the job beats filing; steel (10520/10530) for casual and light work, cheaper to own and self-rescuing with a file.
Lead paint?
Hard old coatings are pre-1978 territory. Work under the RRP boundary (section 3), and consider the 09190 shroud where dust control governs.
What kills this blade?
Impact and leverage — nail heads, masonry, prying. A chip is permanent and scratch-tracks the work; retire the edge on sight.
