✕CHOOSE A DIFFERENT TOOL WHEN
  • Not solvent-borne floor coatings in the plastic itself — mineral-spirit, xylene, and some epoxy-component chemistries attack plastic; the metal 92060 is the solvent chassis, lined so the mess leaves with the liner.
  • Not the big single-color slab that runs an 18" cover continuously — past a couple of gallons a session, the 5-gallon bucket and hanging grid wins on reservoir and consistency, and this catalog hands the job over (the 92113 is the 18" toehold below that line).
  • Not wall and ceiling work as its designed role — for general rolling the standard 92069 is the plain right tool; the 92070's floor profile is meant for the deck, not the wall.
  • Not a covered hold — no lid; two-part material won't wait for a lid anyway.

THE JOB, THE REASON, AND THE BETTER TOOL

How the pros run it

01

Position

the tray rides on unfinished ground ahead of the wet edge and moves with you — retreat toward the exit, never coat yourself in. Stability: it lives under-foot; keep it where it won't be kicked into wet coating, and don't overfill a tray you'll be dragging. Pot life is geometry (2b): thin-in-a-tray beats massed-in-a-bucket for two-part material — split batches deliberately. Liner cadence: per batch on two-part work, not just per color (2c). Chemistry caution: if the floor coating is solvent-borne, the 92070's plastic is the wrong material — solvents soften and gum plastic — and the job moves to the metal deepwell (92060); the pot-life trick still applies, just in a metal tray.

Asked before buying

BUYER QUESTIONS, ANSWERED BEFORE YOU ORDER
What makes it a "floor" tray?
It's the line's designated floor-coating member — meant to sit on the surface being coated and move with the wet edge (2a). The specific molding difference from the standard tray isn't stated in claims.
Why work floor epoxy from a tray instead of the bucket?
Pot life — a thin tray spread runs cooler and stays workable longer than a massed bucket, which cooks itself (2b). Split batches into the tray on purpose.
Which liner fits it?
The 92076, officially rated for the 92069 and the 92070 — the line's one dual-fit liner (2c). Run a fresh one per batch on two-part material.
Can I use it for solvent-borne floor coatings?
Not in the plastic — solvents gum it; step to the metal 92060 (§3, §4).
How is it different from the standard 92069?
Designation and molding — same width, same capacity, same liner; the 92070 is built for the deck, the 92069 for the wall (§5).
Big garage floor — is this enough tray?
For controlled bays and edges, yes; for a big open single-color slab, an 18" cover or the bucket-and-grid wins (§4, §5).
