THE HYDE COUNTER · JOB KNOWLEDGE
How to Choose Paint-Tray Capacity for the Job
Decision: choose the smallest exact, compatible tray system that serves the required roller and lets the planned zone run without an unacceptable refill interruption. If any hard gate is unknown, HOLD; do not repair the matrix with a sibling specification.
READ THE WORK
The complete Hyde job guide.
Job: convert a known coating job into a tray requirement, release one verified station, and record actual refill behavior.
Result: a model-specific tray, roller, coating, and site system with an authorized working charge, planned refills, and a passing first-cycle readback.
Time: plan and dry-prove before coating opens; no universal setup, refill, coverage, or labor rate applies.
Everything else required: exact coating label, technical data sheet and safety data sheet · exact substrate/system instructions · exact tray and accessory instructions · exact frame and cover instructions · a measured job takeoff or bounded work-zone plan · stable protected staging · access and fall-protection plan where applicable · spill containment · identity labels · authorized transfer, cleanup, storage, and waste equipment. These are system requirements, not additional Hyde product backlinks.
Start with the job, not the tray shelf
Write one requirement card before comparing models:
| Requirement | Record the exact answer |
| Work zone | Surface, boundaries, elevation, access, obstacles, and natural stop |
| Coating | Maker, product/code, revision, color/sheen, relevant lot/components, label/TDS/SDS |
| Required quantity | Maker’s coverage method applied to measured zone and coats, with no invented waste factor |
| Roller system | Exact frame and cover, marked width, interface, nap or construction when specified, and coating permission |
| Working vessel | Required contact compatibility, roller clearance, approved liner or cover if any, and exact working-fill instruction |
| Refill consequence | Supply location and any stairs, ladders, traffic, wet work, containment, or finish boundary |
| Placement | Protected footprint, permitted height, traffic control, and fixed/movable status |
| Interruption | Natural breaks and the coating’s wet-edge, working-time, pot-life, recoat, and hold rules |
Do not estimate tray capacity from wall area alone. The tray feeds a particular roller through a particular zone. Roller fit, coating contact, or site support can reject a vessel before volume matters.
Separate total job quantity under the coating maker’s method from working charge permitted by the exact tray instructions. Nominal 2 L or 4 L does not authorize pouring that amount, carrying it charged, or consuming it before a natural break.
Apply the exact ten-member capacity and role register
Product guides and the line document are research surfaces and contain useful hypotheses, but they do not outrank accepted exact claims.
| 47452 | Official Hyde 9-inch 2-in-1 roller tray, exact 9-inch roller plastic tray variant, package 9 IN / 230 MM, with an applicable family claim that its cover keeps paint fresh between coats. | CONDITIONAL FUNCTION CANDIDATE; CAPACITY HOLD. Select only when the verified need is the 9-inch covered-tray function and the exact coating/system permits it. Width conflict, working fill, closure behavior, duration, liner, chemistry, carry, and cleanup remain gated. |
| 92053 | Official exact-model name ECONO PLASTIC TRAY. | HOLD. No accepted capacity, dimension, roller fit, grade, disposability, cover, liner, service life, or application. “Econo” is identity, not proof that it is the smallest safe charge or best low-volume choice. |
| 92054 | Zero accepted claims. Ladder, width, material, and 2-liter language are title or linked-liner research only. | HOLD. Do not select by volume or for height until exact tray identity, capacity, working fill, ladder interface, compatible ladders, permitted load, setup, and site procedure are proved together. |
| 92060 | The sole accepted entry says 2L PLASTIC LINER FOR 92060; it describes the liner, not the parent tray. | HOLD. No accepted tray capacity, material, “deepwell,” chemistry, solvent, finish, liner-use, stability, working-fill, rust, cleaning, or disposal claim. The misplaced liner record cannot release the tray. |
| 92067 | Zero accepted own claims. A separate official page identifies 92077 as a 4 L plastic liner for 92067. | HOLD. The liner establishes an exact accessory-parent reference, not the parent’s working fill, footprint, roller fit, material, “heavy-duty,” “jumbo,” carry, stability, or productivity. Reconcile the parent before treating it as a 4 L tray choice. |
| 92069 | Zero accepted own claims. The separate 92076 page names a 2 L plastic liner for 92069 and 92070. | HOLD. A liner name does not prove the tray’s capacity, standard duty, material, roller fit, working fill, carry, cleanup, or equivalence to 92070. |
| 92070 | Zero accepted own claims. “Floor,” material, width, and capacity are title observations; 92076 separately names the parent. | HOLD. Do not select for floors, by capacity, or by supposed stability until the exact tray form, purpose, working fill, coating contact, placement, and difference from 92069 are authoritative. |
Never count its nominal volume as a freestanding reservoir, carrying capacity, safe fill, or proof of parent performance. |
| 92078 | Official exact-model 2L PLASTIC TRAY. | CONDITIONAL 2 L CANDIDATE. Capacity class and plastic identity pass. Exact roller fit, working fill, stability, liner, coating contact, carry, cleanup, and title-level recycled-content claims remain open. “Plastic” alone supplies no chemistry decision. |
Liner SKU, working fill, material, coating contact, footprint, carry, cleaner, and use method remain gated. |
No lead is omitted.
Use hard gates, then refill logic
Do not score unknowns. Apply the gates in order:
Gate A — roller system
Its official purpose does not make it a universal larger tray.
47452’s accepted 9-inch identity permits conditional comparison with a verified 9-inch system. No accepted width or roller-fit claim releases 92078 merely because it is exactly 2 L.
Gate B — coating contact
The coating label/TDS/SDS and vessel instructions must permit the actual tray, liner, and contact duration. “Plastic,” “metal,” “liner,” color, and sibling prose grant no chemistry. Silence means HOLD.
Gate C — site and access
Require a level protected station, clearance, spill control, and no unauthorized carry. Size, “deepwell,” or an attachment name proves no stability or load.
Gate D — working fill
Bind the exact maker’s working-level mark or instruction. With nominal capacity alone, working charge is UNKNOWN. Never fill to nominal capacity, the brim, or a sibling’s ramp line.
Gate E — refill consequence
After A–D pass, compare authorized working charges:
planned refill count = ceiling(required working quantity for the zone ÷ exact authorized working charge)
Use the formula only for known inputs in the same unit; nominal capacity is not a substitute. Record each refill’s stop, supply, transfer, access, wet-edge consequence, and containment reset.
Choose the larger admitted charge only when it removes a consequential interruption without violating a harder gate. Otherwise choose the smaller complete system. This is not a universal productivity or value ranking.
Build the release matrix
Mark each hard requirement PASS, HOLD, REJECT, or N/A with exact proof.
| Requirement | 47452 | 92078 | 92113 | Release rule |
| Accepted nominal capacity | HOLD | PASS—2 L | PASS—4 L | Capacity enters math only when accepted; never becomes working fill automatically |
| Required roller identity | PASS at exact 9-inch identity; dry fit remains | HOLD pending exact system | PASS for 18-inch purpose; dry fit remains | Wrong or unknown roller path rejects the candidate |
| Authorized working charge | Exact instruction required | Exact instruction required | Exact instruction required | No instruction means no refill calculation |
| Station and access | Exact site proof required | Exact site proof required | Exact site proof required | Capacity does not authorize placement or carry |
| Liner/cover need | Accepted cover purpose; behavior gated | Liner unknown | Liner-compatible; exact liner unknown | Accessory identity and fit must be exact |
| Refill consequence | Calculate only after working charge | Calculate only after working charge | Official fewer-refills purpose; actual job result still measured | Prefer larger only when the real route justifies it |
| Cleanup/closeout | Exact system required | Exact system required | Exact system required | No generic cleaner, drain, storage, or waste route |
Add held models only after exact evidence reconciles their conflicts. One coating, fit, access, or working-fill HOLD defeats every convenience score.
Dry-prove the selected station
Before opening coating:
Reject or quarantine cracks, distortion, sharp damage, residue, cured fragments, missing parts, unstable contact, or unreadable identity.
Set the empty tray at its protected location; check work/refill routes, doors, cords, stairs, traffic, wet-edge path, and emergency access.
Assemble the exact frame and cover by their instructions. Dry-spin; reject binding, wobble, migration, incomplete seating, or damage.
Rehearse the empty loading path: the cover rotates, clears, reaches the working surface, and withdraws without hand-bracing the tray.
Install accessories only by exact-model instructions. Reject lift, bridging, rocking, folding, spring-up, forced fit, or unknown identity. 92077’s name supplies no 92067 seating method.
Paint is not a fit test.
Release the first working charge
Condition coating only under its exact instructions. Keep pristine reserve separate from roller-exposed working material. Move the empty station to its final approved position before pouring unless the exact procedure says otherwise.
Measure and add gradually by the exact tray instruction. Preserve displacement headroom. Stop at unintended surfaces, hardware, core openings, unsupported liner edges, or threatened overflow.
Load by the proved path and exact roller/coating method. Read even rotation and controlled charge, not a universal pass count. On a representative witness, reject an unexplained dry lane, heavy edge, stream, debris, bubbles, or component movement.
Record only measured starting charge. Log additions, refill stops, useful interruption time, material condition, and whether the planned break held. That observation—not a catalog adjective—sizes the next comparable job.
Verification and decision readback
A local decision needs five passes:
Identity: model and accessories match proof.
System: frame, cover, tray, and accessory dry-fit without modification.
Operation: exact working-charge instruction, first cycle, and witness pass.
Cadence: refills cause no unplanned wet-edge, access, contamination, or containment failure.
Classify the result:
RELEASED: all checks pass.
RELEASED—REPLAN NEXT ZONE: finish now; compare another verified system next time.
REJECT: evidence or observation contradicts a requirement.
QUARANTINE: identity, contamination, damage, reaction, spill, or source conflict needs disposition.
Failure paths and controlled recovery
| What happens | What was probably unresolved | Controlled response |
| Normal loading threatens overflow | Nominal capacity became working fill | Stop, contain, reduce only by an authorized route, and obtain the exact working-level instruction |
| Refills interrupt the wet edge | Zone quantity, working charge, natural break, or supply route was not reconciled | Finish only by the coating’s correction route; split the next zone or compare another fully admitted system |
| Liner seems close enough | Volume or width became fit | Remove it dry; bind exact parent/liner instructions and reject force or movement |
| Coating changes the tray or liner | Contact compatibility was assumed | Stop transfer, isolate material and components under the SDS/site plan, and obtain manufacturer disposition |
| 92077 was treated as a tray | Accessory role was lost | Stop.
| 92067 was released because its liner says 4 L | Parent capacity/performance was inferred from accessory identity | Return to HOLD until exact parent evidence and instructions are reconciled |
| More capacity does not reduce refills | Charge, zone, breaks, or cover controls | Preserve the result and reject the assumed productivity claim |
Cleanup, material disposition, and release
At a natural break, classify untouched reserve, working material, contamination, and waste separately. Capacity never authorizes pour-back.
Remove components only by exact instructions. No universal water, detergent, solvent, scraper, soak, drain, trash, recycling, drying, or storage method applies. Material adjectives supply none. The 92078 environmental and recyclability stories remain unaccepted.
Measure final quantities when possible, close labeled containers, contain residues, and inspect the tray.

Frequently asked questions
Is 2 L the default?
Here, 92078 is officially a 2 L plastic tray; fit, contact, working fill, site, and cleanup still require proof. Other “2 L” parent stories remain unaccepted or inferred.
Which model is the verified 4 L tray?
92113: officially 4 L and 18-inch, designed for 18-inch rollers. Working fill, material, chemistry, carry, and liner SKU remain open.
Is 92067 also a verified 4 L tray?
Not at the parent-claim layer. 92077 is a 4 L liner for it, which proves neither parent working fill nor performance.
Can I use 92077 alone?
It is a liner for 92067, not a freestanding, carry, or storage vessel.
What capacity is 92053?
Unknown. ECONO PLASTIC TRAY supplies no liter figure or safe working volume.
Does 4 L mean half the refills of 2 L?
Not automatically. Calculate from authorized working charges and verify against the job.
Should height work always use more capacity?
Access, placement, load, spill, and carry gates remain; capacity never authorizes an elevated load.
Can I choose 92060 for solvent coatings?
Not here. Its accepted entry is the liner name; tray material and coating contact need reconciliation.
Does 47452 hold 2 L / 0.53 gal?
Capacity is held; 9-inch covered identity is accepted.
Which liner fits 92113?
The tray is liner-compatible, but the SKU is unresolved. Do not substitute 92077 or any same-volume liner.
Is the biggest tray the most productive or best value?
No universal productivity, coverage, labor, service-life, or value comparison is accepted. A larger admitted working charge matters only if it removes a real costly refill and every harder system gate passes.
History footnote, sources, conflicts, and graph handoff
The live 92113 page also exposes sibling variant 92130; no sibling claim transfers.
47452: accepted 9-inch covered identity, not accepted 2 L / 0.53 gal capacity; hold capacity copy.
92053: only ECONO PLASTIC TRAY is accepted; local size, grade, capacity, accessory, and role prose is held.
92054: zero own claims; ladder, capacity, material, fit, mounting, load, and workflow are held.
92060: liner evidence is misfiled on the tray; parent capacity, material, chemistry, stability, and care are held.
92067/92077: the liner identity and parent reference do not prove parent capacity, width, material, grade, stability, or productivity.
92069/92070: zero own claims; a shared liner name proves no parent capacity, geometry, role, equivalence, or method.
92078: exact 2 L plastic tray; width, environmental wording, liner, chemistry, performance, and end-of-life remain open.
92113: exact 4 L / 18-inch purpose and stated fewer-refills/liner compatibility; liner SKU, working fill, material, chemistry, load, carry, cleaning, and method remain open.
No capacity transfers into safe fill, stability, carry, coverage, labor, service life, value, or disposal.
Edge roles: 47452 = conditional 9-inch covered-function candidate, capacity held · 92053 = capacity-unknown econo identity, held · 92054 = zero-claim height-system lead, held · 92060 = misfiled-liner evidence, parent held · 92067 = unresolved parent referenced by 92077, held · 92069 = zero-claim parent, held · 92070 = zero-claim parent, held · 92077 = exact 4 L plastic liner for 92067, accessory only · 92078 = conditional exact 2 L tray · 92113 = conditional exact 4 L / 18-inch tray.
Every one of the ten PDPs should backlink to this application with its distinct role and gates intact.
