This is a fitment guide, not a universal installation instruction. A liner’s appearance, dimensions, apparent capacity, or observed seating can reject a candidate, but observation cannot create a positive fit claim. The coating label/TDS/SDS and the tray/liner maker’s physical instructions control coating compatibility, PPE, installation motion, removal motion, cleanup, reuse or disposal, and any covered-hold claim.

Job: put the exact documented liner into its exact documented parent tray, verify the dry setup without using coating as a test medium, operate without displacing the liner, then remove the system from service without inventing how the liner may be carried, cleaned, reused, or discarded.

Time: no universal duration.

Difficulty: easy only after the pair is authoritative. Refuse near-fit substitutions and keep negative observation separate from positive compatibility.

A clean, coating-compatible roller and any other application tools are separate selections; this row does not authorize a roller cover, frame, brush, solvent, cleaner, or PPE item.

A positive claim must name the parent model. After that match, dry inspection can reject damage, distortion, interference, movement, or unresolved identity. It cannot approve another tray because the liner sits neatly.

Use these three outcomes:

Proceed under those instructions.

AUTHORIZED PAIR, PHYSICAL REJECT: the pair is correct, but the specimen is damaged, contaminated, distorted, obstructed, or unstable during the maker-authorized dry setup. Quarantine it.

A successful-looking trial does not upgrade this outcome.

Coating behind a liner defeats the system and can conceal a spill. Reject uncertainty while everything is dry.

The table’s fit union is exact: 92055→92054; 92063→92062; 92076→92069/92070; 92077→92067; 92081→92080. The proposed 92061→92060 edge remains quarantined because the current first-party page duplicates the parent’s SKU/UPC instead of identifying the liner. No liner crosses between these groups.

Read both physical identifiers

Record the model shown on the parent and the model shown on the liner packaging, label, molded mark, or other released identifier. Do not infer a missing number from color, shape, width, capacity, shelf position, or a nested stack. Preserve identifying packaging; quarantine a separated, unidentified liner.

For 92062 and 92080, confirm the customer has the exact external parent; stocking its liner does not mean the parent is stocked. For 92061, obtain exact service confirmation; the physical part cannot “vote” on the intended SKU.

Verify the documentary edge

Match the numbers against the table and manufacturer page. Save title or service response, URL, observed date, and SKU. “For 92067” is a fit claim; “plastic liner” is not. Preserve conflicts and block the affected claim.

Read coating and tool instructions before contact

The word plastic establishes only the stated material class for the liners. It does not establish resin, coating compatibility, solvent resistance, maximum dwell, temperature limit, cleanup method, or waste classification. The word metal on the 92060 family does not certify every coating either, and a plastic liner inside a metal tray does not inherit the parent’s material properties.

Build the workflow from the coating label/TDS/SDS and tray/liner instructions. Record contact materials, PPE, ventilation, ignition controls, working time, cleanup, and waste. Unproven compatibility stops use.

Inspect dry components

Use the manufacturer’s inspection criteria. Reject visible contamination, cured residue, puncture, split, crack, warping, crushed edges, unidentified alteration, or tray damage that prevents authorized setup. Observation rejects; it does not establish manufacture or failure cause.

Do not trim, slit, stretch, heat, fold, tape, glue, double-line, weight, or modify a liner to imitate fit. Do not use coating to reveal a gap. Missing orientation or retention instructions mean stop.

Dry verification and installation

Stage the dry system

Put the clean, dry parent on a level protected surface in the orientation allowed by its instructions. Keep coating closed. For a ladder-designated parent, this guide does not authorize lining while mounted or prescribe mounting.

Run a rejection-only dry check

Without forcing the liner, inspect the perimeter, working surface, and each documented engagement location. Reject visible bridging, proud areas where contact is required, folds, rocking, spring-out, feature interference, or movement during the maker’s dry verification. Use a clean, dry roller only when exact instructions require it; this guide creates no roller-load test or pressure threshold.

Their absence does not validate a new pairing. Record DRY CHECK ACCEPTABLE, not “fits because it sat flat.”

Install under the exact instructions

Complete documented engagement, retention, and inspection. Do not invent a snap, seal, rim lock, pressure direction, or sequence. Verify no film, label, debris, or second liner remains at the contact surface.

“It looks right” is not a substitute for the missing method.

Use without turning the liner into an unsupported vessel

Introduce coating only after all gates close

Confirm the register, pair, dry check, compatibility, controls, and instructions. Use only the authorized amount and method. The 1 L, 2 L, and 4 L names are not fill lines, working volumes, brim allowances, or carrying allowances.

Keep the parent tray supporting the liner throughout operation unless exact instructions say otherwise. Do not treat the liner as a bucket, transfer vessel, storage container, or free-standing pan. Do not assume a rim is a handle or that a filled liner may be moved. Keep application force within the tool instructions; a liner that moves, lifts, deforms, or admits coating behind it is a stop condition.

Monitor the first working cycles

Watch for movement, coating behind the liner, distortion, a rising edge, interference, or lost stability. Stop at the first symptom; do not add tape, weight, a second liner, or more coating.

If coating chemistry, heat, or time may be involved, contain under the SDS and contact both makers. Observation can reject the condition; it cannot identify resin, causal solvent, safe exposure time, or reusable limit.

Removal, cleanup, and disposition

Close the coating operation first

Stop under the coating maker’s working-time and end-of-use procedure. Transfer or recover material only where the exact coating instructions authorize it, into an approved labeled vessel. Never return contaminated working material to an untouched reserve, and never mix reactive remainder into fresh components. Reduce the system to the condition the liner/tray instructions require before removal.

Remove only by the documented motion

Move the supported system to approved cleanup/containment only if instructions permit. Do not carry a filled liner by an apparent rim, fold liquid into it, twist it, peel it in a guessed direction, or assume it stands unsupported. Follow the exact removal method. If absent, keep the liner supported and request service instructions.

If coating has reached the parent, contain the system, remove it from application service, and follow the coating and tray makers’ cleanup procedures. Do not install a second liner over hidden wet material.

No reviewed source establishes that every liner is single-use, reusable, washable, recyclable, ordinary trash, or hazardous waste.

Keep water, solvent, reactive residues, wipes, and incompatible materials in their authorized routes. Never pour coating or cleanup residue onto the ground or into a storm drain. For household hazardous-waste context, EPA directs users to follow labels, keep materials identified, avoid mixing leftovers, and consult state/local programs (EPA household hazardous waste). That general source does not classify a particular liner.

Inspect and close the parent record

After authorized removal and cleanup, inspect the parent.

History footnote — the removable contact surface was the invention

Thomas L. Hardwick filed his [“Disposable Paint Tray Liner,” U.S. 3,157,902]( on January 4, 1963; it was granted November 24, 1964. The patent’s enduring idea is separation of roles: the conventional roller tray supplies support, while a removable liner supplies the paint-contact surface so changing paint does not require cleaning the parent tray first.

The patent does not prove current resin, wall thickness, retention, motions, carrying strength, lifecycle, or coating compatibility. It only explains why model fit matters: the liner is supported by its intended tray.

Can I tell whether a liner fits by placing it in the tray?

Placement can reveal a reject condition but cannot create fit. Start with an exact current model edge.

Which current pairings are supported?

92055→92054; 92063→92062; 92076→92069 or 92070; 92077→92067; and 92081→92080. The local 92061→92060 mapping remains gated because the current manufacturer liner page duplicates SKU/UPC 92060 instead of identifying 92061.

Are 92062 and 92080 available as local parent-product backlinks?

Is 92069 a standard tray or a ladder tray?

Does “2 L” or “4 L” tell me how far to fill?

It is a nominal product-name class here, not a verified fill line, working volume, displacement allowance, or permission to move the system filled.

Can I use any of these liners with solvent-borne coating?

Not from this guide. “Made from plastic” supplies no solvent rating, and a plastic liner does not inherit a metal parent’s properties. Obtain exact approval from the coating and tool makers.

How do I push the liner into place and remove it?

Use the exact packaged or current manufacturer instructions. The reviewed product pages do not establish insertion pressure, direction, snap/retention mechanics, or removal motion, so this guide does not invent them.

Are the liners disposable or reusable?

The reviewed exact-model pages do not establish a universal answer. Follow the particular liner instructions, coating label/SDS, workplace plan, and local waste rule.

Can 92081 hold paint under a cover?

Do not infer that workflow from “2 IN 1.” Any cover, seal, engagement, hold time, coating restriction, and re-entry procedure requires the exact 92080/92081 instructions. Nothing about 92081 transfers to the other liner families.
