  • Broad open fields. A 1/2" block covering a large flat surface is slow; that's the wide 46805's job. This brush is for access, not coverage.
  • Delicate or finished surfaces. Stiff carbon wire and a steel scraper scar soft metals, plating, anodizing, and finishes, and can iron-stain oak — brass (46801) or nylon (46804) for those.
  • Wet chemical duty as a home (carbon rusts) and spark-controlled areas (steel sparks).

Ride the slot, don't force the width

The block is thin so it can enter a gap — line it up with the channel and let it drop in, rather than jamming it at an angle. Cut with the tips. The 1" carbon bristles cut on their ends; mashing them folds the wire and wipes instead of cutting. Use the reach. The long handle is for working a run or a recess at distance — let it carry your hand away from the tight, rough work. Scrape the holdout. When the bristles polish a stuck spot at the bottom of a slot, roll onto the carbon scraper nose. Eye protection — carbon wire throws debris and sheds bristles, and a slot throws it back at you. Prime same-day, dry after use (carbon rusts and a rusted brush contaminates), and keep the whole tool off stainless and aluminum.

Can I use it on stainless or aluminum?
No — the carbon wire and carbon scraper embed iron that rusts or pits those metals. Use the stainless 46800.
What's the scraper for?
Shearing a stuck paint edge or scale scab at the bottom of a slot that the bristles only polish.
Deck gaps and shutter louvers — is this the one?
Yes — the thin block is shaped exactly for those parallel-slot geometries, on steel and iron.
Will it rust?
Yes if stored wet — dry it after use.
