Slow is the setting

every material on this page punishes rpm — paint with air, sealer with sling, epoxy with heat and bubbles. Bottom-first, always: settlement is a floor phenomenon; the head starts there and earns its way up. Spout work = cone and time: tilt-sweeps and vertical strokes replace the orbit you can't do; extend the clock, not the speed. Submerged transitions: trigger on at the floor, dead stop before the head clears the surface. Long-shaft discipline: vertical shaft, seated shank, low rpm — 19 inches converts any sloppiness into wobble. Wash on the material's clock: paint forgives an hour; epoxy forgives nothing.

Does it really mix a five without opening it?
Yes — that is its design brief: 1-3/4" diameter chosen to pass a five-gallon pour spout, per Hyde's own row, with 19" of shaft to reach the floor from there (2a).
Epoxy — this or the StirWhip?
This, and it is not close: the Mudslinger family row rates epoxies; the StirWhip's row bars them. The whole 434xx paint tier is barred with it (2e).
Will it handle a full pail of joint compound?
Thin-to-medium compound, yes. Full-body mud, honestly no — the small head carves a channel through stiff material; the 3-1/4" 46560 rolls that pail (§4, §5).
What drill does it need?
A 3/8" chuck or larger with a feathered low speed. No 1/2" low-rpm machine required at this head size.
Driveway sealer?
On its own description, yes — bottom-first re-suspension until the pour runs uniform, with the SDS check first: solvent-borne sealer plus a sparking drill motor in a closed space is a real hazard (2d).
Why is my drill wandering at the top of the shaft?
Long-shaft runout: bottom the hex in the chuck, snug all jaws, keep the shaft vertical, and stay slow. Nineteen inches amplifies everything.
Steel through a plastic spout — will it chew the pail?
Enter and exit with the drill stopped, run it submerged, and the spout never meets a moving blade. The head passes because it was sized to, not forced.
