Fine, curved, or shallow cutting — film, wallpaper, graphics, delicate trim — where the wide stiff blade cannot follow a radius and its depth is wasted; those are 9mm and 18mm jobs.

And it is not a substitute for the hook knife on sheet flooring laid over a subfloor you must protect — the hook pulls the cut; the 25mm pushes it straight through.
The 25mm's advantage is full extension, and full extension is only safe against a locked collar. Set the depth, turn the wheel to its full 100-pound clamp, then cut. A long blade that creeps mid-pull is exactly the failure this host is built to prevent. Commit to one pass. A depth blade rewards a single continuous stroke over repeated sawing tugs; each stop lets thick material re-grip the blade's flanks. Let the length of edge do the cutting — do not lever it. The tip is not a pry. Even a stout 25mm blade snaps if twisted or side-loaded past its beam; when a cut hangs up, free it with the edge, not by torquing the point. Snapped segments are large sharps. Seven long segments means each spent piece is a substantial two-edged shard, bigger than an 18mm tip and able to cut through a glove. Snap at the groove, away from the body, into a sharps container.

What blades does it take?
25mm snap-off blades — Hyde's are item #42360, sold in 5-packs (35 edges). That blade is catalogued in the utility line and has no knife of its own there; this is its host.
Why 100 pounds of holding force?
Because a 25mm blade extended for a full-depth cut is under real load; the screw collar clamps it rigid so it cannot creep. Depth and clamp are a designed pair — double the 18mm knife's 44 pounds.
Why only seven points, when the 18mm has eight?
Because 25mm segments are longer, so a standard-length blade carries fewer of them. Fewer, longer, stiffer segments is the depth blade's character.
Can it cut carpet and linoleum?
Yes — Hyde names both; extend far, clamp hard, and pull one pass. For flooring over a subfloor you must not score, the hook knife 67090 is the specialist.
Does it store spares and hang on a belt?
Yes — spare blade storage in the handle, a strap hole for carrying, a rubber safety grip, and two blades in the box.
