CHOOSE THIS WHEN
  • The documented job is “How to Paint an Existing Textured Wall (Orange Peel or Knockdown)”.
  • Ultra-Thin Microfiber Blend: Constructed from a dense matrix of microscopic fibers that hold up to three times more paint than a standard roller cover.
  • Flawless, Spray-Like Finish: Automatically levels and distributes paint with virtually zero stipple, yielding a mirror-smooth look.
  • Maximum Shed Resistance: Tightly locked, premium synthetic filaments prevent lint and loose fibers from shedding into wet paint.
DO NOT FORCE THE FIT
  • Dead-smooth walls and cabinet finish work — on glass-smooth drywall the 1/2" lays a stipple you'll see in good light; drop to 3/8" (47302) for smooth walls, 1/4" (47309) for doors and cabinets.
  • Medium-to-heavy texture — real knockdown with depth, plaster with heavy tooth: the 1/2" starts to under-reach; step to 5/8" (47304) and beyond.
  • Masonry, brick faces, stucco, cinder block — the microfiber filaments "snag, fray, and quickly tear" on aggressive rough surfaces (Hyde's own limitation); genuinely rough masonry is polyester's job (Lamb Pro), not microfiber's.
  • Epoxy floors — for a lint-free 1/2" that survives epoxy and broom-finish slabs, the woven Woven-Ultra 47330 is the rated cover; see §5.

How the pros run it

01

Light hand, still

The microfiber's capacity means you never need to press — press hard into texture and you flood the peaks and fling spatter as the longer fibers whip off the surface. Let the nap meter the paint. Budget more paint for texture than for a smooth wall of the same size; running a textured wall dry leaves holidays in the valleys. De-lint before the first load (tape-and-rip or wash-and-spin) even though the cover is lint-free. Pre-dampen for waterborne paint so the first load reaches the wall. Lay off in one direction with a light final pass to even the surface and lift fat edges. Inspect in raking light before leaving a textured wall — a work lamp held near the surface reveals missed valleys that flat daylight hides. Cleaning takes longer than a standard cover — rinse until clear, spin, stand on end; the microfiber reuses well. The textured-wall and ceiling methods are owned by their application guides; this guide doesn't duplicate them.

Asked at the counter

BUYER QUESTIONS ANSWERED BEFORE THE CART, NOT AFTER THE RETURN
What's the 1/2" nap for?
Light-to-medium texture — orange peel, light knockdown, sand plaster, smooth concrete, primed tight-joint brick — and as the higher-capacity ceiling nap — §2.
Can I use it on a smooth wall?
You can, but it leaves a light stipple; the 3/8" (47302) is the smooth-wall nap — §1, §4.
Why is it good for ceilings?
More paint per dip means fewer overhead reloads, and the microfiber holds paint against dripping — §2b.
1/2" or 5/8"?
Light texture → 1/2"; medium knockdown or plaster with real tooth → 5/8" (47304) — §5.
Masonry or epoxy?
Not this — masonry goes to polyester (Lamb Pro), epoxy to the woven 47330 — §4.
My textured wall has bare spots after painting. Under-reached or under-loaded — budget more paint into texture and inspect in raking light before you leave the wall — §3. - Masonry or epoxy?
Not this — masonry goes to polyester (Lamb Pro), epoxy to the woven 47330 — §4.

official description
E-Volution Advanced Microfiber Ultra-Thin Microfiber Blend: Constructed from a dense matrix of microscopic fibers that hold up to three times more paint than a standard roller cover. Flawless, Spray-Like Finish: Automatically levels and distributes paint with virtually zero stipple, yielding a mirror-smooth look. Maximum Shed Resistance: Tightly locked, premium synthetic filaments prevent lint and loose fibers from shedding into wet paint. Exceptional Splatter Control: Capillary action within the micro-filaments locks the paint inside the nap, reducing drips and messy splatters during overhead work. Ideal For All Sheen Levels: Flawlessly applies every finish from flat and matte to semi-gloss and high-gloss enamels. Critical Lighting Areas: Perfect for Interior spaces like large ceilings and walls exposed to direct sunlight, as it eliminates lap marks and tracks. Smooth to Semi-Smooth Surfaces: Optimally engineered for drywall, plaster, ceilings, wood trim, and smooth-rendered walls. Limitations Higher Paint Release Control Required: The massive paint capacity requires a lighter touch; pressing too hard can cause the roller to overload the wall or drip. Longer Cleaning Time: The incredibly dense microscopic fiber web holds onto paint tightly, requiring a more thorough and rigorous rinsing process to clean completely. Not for Aggressive Textures: Rough surfaces like heavy stucco, brick, or cinder blocks will snag, fray, and quickly tear up the delicate microfiber filaments. Key Differences from 100% Polyester Paint Capacity and Speed: Advanced Microfiber holds significantly more paint per dip than standard 100% polyester, allowing you to paint up to three times further before returning to the tray. Finish Smoothness vs. Stipple texture: Standard polyester leaves a noticeable, bumpy "orange peel" stipple pattern on walls. Microfiber lays the paint down so evenly it mimics the glass-smooth look of a commercial paint sprayer. Splatting and Mess: Standard polyester is prone to spraying micro-droplets and splattering paint everywhere when rolled quickly. Microfiber absorbs and locks the paint in place, resulting in a much cleaner, virtually splatter-free work environment. Premium Investment vs. Disposable: Standard polyester is a cheap, disposable commodity. Advanced Microfiber is a premium contractor-grade product that commands a higher retail price but delivers vastly superior results. — OFFICIAL FAMILY CLAIM APPLICABLE TO EXACT LISTED MODEL
