Extend only what the cut needs

A snap-off is stiffest with the least blade out of the handle; long extension is for the 25mm depth knife, not this one. Set the shortest reach that clears the material and lock it. Snap at the drag, not at the break. The whole point of a segmented blade is a fresh edge on demand — renew the moment the cut stops being clean, using the built-in breaker so the segment shears square instead of shattering. The slide lock is there to be used. Do not cut on an unlocked slider; an 18mm blade under side load will creep back into the handle and skate off the line. Click it to a detent every time. Snapped segments are sharps. Each spent tip is a small two-edged razor. Snap it away from your body into a sharps container, never onto the floor — the breaker exists so the shard is captured, not flung.
