DO NOT FORCE THE FIT
  • Not for textured, waved, or aged surfaces: the rigid edge touches high spots and bridges hollows, and every bridged hollow passes fog under a line that looks perfect from three feet away.
  • Not for carpet: this blade cannot tuck into pile at a tack strip — that is the flexible 24's signature move, and the single clearest way to tell these twins apart.
  • Not for curved or irregular lines — archways, scribed stone, radius walls go to the 28100 clip with cut cardboard.
  • Not the stride tool for open rooms or corridors: same fence, longer reach, fewer stops — 28030, then 28040.
  • And not a masking substitute: the room still gets its drops and film; this blade only guards the line it is currently touching.

How the pros run it

01

No bow, ever

pressure with this blade is seat-and-hold, not spring-and-conform; pressing harder does not close a gap over a hollow, it just tires the hand. If daylight shows under the edge, the surface is telling you it wants the 28010. Placement: because the edge is straight by construction, placement accuracy is everything — set the edge on the mark, not near it; the blade will not adapt to a sloppy seat. Angle: face pitched toward the gun at the PivotNeck, set once per line. Gun path: parallel passes only; never rake along the blade toward the tip. Edge care: the working inch is the tool — store it hung or flat, never loose in a bucket of steel.

Asked at the counter

BUYER QUESTIONS ANSWERED BEFORE THE CART, NOT AFTER THE RETURN
Stiff or flexible at 24 inches?
Ask the surface. Glass, new trim, flat drywall → stiff (this blade). Texture, waves, old sash, carpet → flexible (28010). Each produces the other's failure on the wrong substrate: waver from flex on true lines, fog-under from stiffness on wavy ones.
Can I do windows without tape with this?
Yes — that is its flagship job (2a): edge on the glass at the muntin line, overlap past every intersection, wipe between panes. Straight muntins only; cupped antique beds want the flex twin.
Why is there fog under my perfectly straight line?
The surface isn't as flat as the blade. A rigid edge bridges hollows and each one is a tunnel — move to the 28010 on that wall.
Will lacquer, oil, or thinner hurt it?
No. Aluminum is the solvent-proof branch of the family; the rag that cleans this edge would soften a polystyrene blade.
Is the handle included?
The family claim describes 18" Acme-threaded hardwood handles, and a separate replacement handle SKU exists — box contents are not stated per-SKU; verify before relying on it.
Does it fit an extension pole?
The Acme thread implies it — stated officially only for the 28100; treat pole fitment here as unverified until confirmed.
Can I cut in a two-tone line with it?
Yes, in tight quarters (2b): chalk or laser sets the mark, first color dries fully, wipe at every placement. Long open runs step up to the 28030/28040.
