150 net cuts compound steadily and the open weave keeps it cutting; pressure adds heat and risks the feather, and the pole already supplies too much. Draw first — the dust-through-the-mesh advantage only exists with the vacuum drawing before the disc touches down. Sheen sets the stop — 150 scratch disappears under flat and eggshell in ordinary light; under satin, gloss, or raking sun it can flash, which is the cue to go to 180 rather than call it finished. Wash before retiring — a slowed disc is usually loaded, not spent; rinse and dry it. Read the plane in a raking light, which net makes honest by keeping the surface clear of settled dust.
