  • Adhesion scuff for repaint — 240 is too fine to leave the tooth a new coat needs; that's 180's job (which is why the 09922 sits out the repaint-prep application entirely).
  • Coarse-scratch repair — 240 polishes the tops of a 120 or 150 scratch and leaves the bottoms for the primer to find.
  • Dry work sold as "dust-free" — the net resists clogging dry but only extracts with a vacuum drawing through it.
  • Rated wood/metal/fiberglass duty — that's the aluminum-oxide discs, which in any case stop at 180.

Featherweight

240 polishes; the disc's own weight is the whole pressure budget, and more burnishes the film or cuts through it. You're sanding film, not compound — the surface underneath is a finished coat, so take the defect and stop. Draw first — the vacuum must be pulling before the disc lands, doubly so at the grit that loads fastest. Wash early and often — 240 packs on film sooner than any coarser grit; rinse before you'd think to. 240 follows a finer setup, never a coarse one — on a Level-5 wall it comes after 180; on bare compound it only polishes scratch it can't remove. Critical light is the referee — with the vacuum keeping the surface clear, a raking light tells you when the polish is done.

Why is there no aluminum-oxide 240?
Because 240 work is sanding on paint film, which loads conventional paper on contact; only the open net weave keeps a 240 cutting. The whole line's 240 rung is net-only (09922/09928).
When do I use 240?
Two jobs: scuffing between coats (nibs, fibers, roller texture) and the final Level-5 polish after a 180 pass. Not for adhesion scuff (too fine) and not on bare compound (it won't level).
Ten-pack or twenty-five?
Ten (this disc) is a rotation you wash and cycle for a serious job. Twenty-five (09928) is crew stock for high-volume polish work.
Does it really wash clean at this grit?
Yes — and it's where washing pays most, because 240 loads fastest on film. Rinse, dry, reuse.
How much longer does it last?
