Load the flat, not the tip

a wide blade wipes evenly only if the compound sits across it. Two angles: steep to press material in, low to wipe it off; the flex does the smoothing on the low pass. Ride the plane. Two inches finds high spots a narrow blade misses — let the blade bow against the wall so it feathers rather than skating on the crowns. Don't over-press the corners. A wide flexible blade over-loaded at one corner digs a line; keep pressure even across the edge. Edge care: keep it clean and true — dried compound on the edge streaks a wide patch worse than a narrow one. Rust discipline (carbon): this blade rusts — wipe it dry after water-based compound and it lasts for decades; leave mud on it and it spots. If you won't do that, the stainless 01150 is the 2" flex that forgives it.

Is this stainless or carbon?
The store title says stainless, but Hyde's package image, the hydetools family page, and retailer listings all say high carbon steel — so treat it as carbon and wipe it dry. The steel wording on the listing needs reconciling; the genuinely-stainless 2" flex is the 01150.
Is it for applying or scraping?
Applying — it's the wide flexible fill knife. The 2" stiff scraper is the 02300.
2" or 1-1/2"?
Patches bigger than a playing card → 2" (this one). Holes, small patches, tight spots → 1-1/2" (02100).
Will it rust?
As a carbon blade, yes if left wet — wipe it dry after water-based compound. For a no-ritual 2" flex, the stainless 01150.
Can I spread body filler with it?
Yes — it's a good width for a low crown on a small repair; just clean reactive fillers off the carbon blade before they set.
