Thin is the rule

This blade rewards a light load and punishes a heavy one — pile compound on it and the limber steel can't level the mass, it just smears. Low angle, light hand. The flex does the work; let the blade bow and trail rather than forcing it. Pull, don't push. Finishing passes are drawn outward from the center of the repair so the feather thins toward the edge. Lift off softly. End each pass by lifting the blade gradually, not stopping it dead, or you leave a stop-mark. Keep the edge immaculate. A finishing blade lives and dies by a clean, true edge — the tiniest nick draws a line through every skim; hone the carbon edge back at the first sign of a drag mark. Wipe it dry. Thin carbon rusts as readily as thick carbon; a wet blade left overnight is a spotted blade tomorrow.

SuperFlexx or ExtraFlex — which is it?
Both, depending on where you look: the store says SuperFlexx™, Hyde's catalog says ExtraFlex™. Same knife. Its flexibility figure is 25%; the 30% figure belongs to the separate stainless SuperFlexx joint knives.
Why is it so bendy — is it lower quality?
No. It's ground thinner on purpose, for 25% more flex, so it can feather a finish coat flat. The limberness is the feature, aimed at one job.
Can I use it as my only putty knife?
No — it can't scrape and can't press heavy filler. Pair it with a standard flex (02100) and, for removal, a stiff (02150).
Will it rust?
It's carbon — wipe it dry after water-based compound. For rust-proof finishing, the stainless 06107 is the sibling.
What does it actually fix?
The "my patch needs three sanding passes" problem — it removes the patch's shoulder wet, so there's almost nothing to sand.
