CHOOSE THIS WHEN
  • Stiff Carbon Steel Bristles: 1-1/4" bristles provide excellent scrubbing power for stubborn debris.
  • Shoe Handle Shape: Designed to protect knuckles and improve comfort during use in confined spaces.
  • Overmold Handle: Ensures a secure and comfortable grip, reducing hand fatigue during prolonged use.
DO NOT FORCE THE FIT
  • Stainless steel and aluminum. The load-bearing exclusion — carbon embeds iron and ruins the corrosion resistance of both. Use the stainless 46800, dedicated.
  • Wet chemical work as a home. Carbon rusts; for brushes that live in stripper and washes, the stainless (46800) or nylon (46804) fills take the wet without blooming.
  • Delicate, soft, or finished surfaces. Stiff carbon wire scratches soft metals, plating, anodizing, and cured finishes, and can iron-stain tannin woods like oak — those want brass (46801) or nylon (46804).
  • Broad open fields. The narrow 3/4" block is built for reach into tight work; a wide, flat rust field strips faster with the wide-block 46805 or a power wheel.
  • Spark-controlled areas. Steel wire can spark — non-sparking work is brass or nylon.

How the pros run it

01

Cut with the tips, don't lean

A wire brush cuts on the bristle ends; bearing down folds the .35mm wire sideways so it wipes instead of cutting and permanently sets the fill. If you're leaning and it's not cutting, the job wants a heavier tool or a scraper first, not more force. Wear eye protection — carbon wire throws rust and scale and sheds broken bristles; impact-rated glasses or goggles, every time. Reach with the block, not your knuckles — the shoe handle is what lets you drive into a tight space without skinning a hand. Prime same-day — cleaned steel re-oxidizes fast. Dry it after use — carbon rusts, and a rusted brush sheds contamination into the next clean surface; wipe and store dry, and never leave it damp. Keep it off stainless and aluminum — the contamination law is technique, not just theory.

Asked at the counter

BUYER QUESTIONS ANSWERED BEFORE THE CART, NOT AFTER THE RETURN
Can I use it on stainless or aluminum?
No — carbon wire embeds iron that later rusts or pits those metals. Use the dedicated stainless 46800.
Why carbon instead of stainless if stainless doesn't rust?
Carbon cuts harder and costs less, and on mild steel headed for paint the iron it leaves is irrelevant. Stainless is for corrosion-critical substrates and wet work, not for saving money on steel.
Does it have a scraper?
No — this is the plain narrow brush. The 46805 and 46806 carry scraper noses.
Why is it so narrow?
To reach into tight steel — channels, corners, seams — that a wide block can't enter.
Will it rust?
Yes, if stored wet — dry it after use, or it blooms and sheds contamination.

Good price and good quality.

I’m a contractor and for roof cleaning (shingles roof), I use HYDE TOOLS 46802 1-1/4” Wire Bristle Scrub Brush. I bought it before and I bought it again (48 pieces). Good price and good quality. I recommend it.
