Is this the right tool for your job?

CHOOSE THIS WHEN
  • Carbon steel, 13 Points per blade.
  • 9mm Snap-Off Replacement Blades. Carbon steel, 13 Points per blade. Storage dispenser included.
DO NOT FORCE THE FIT
  • Board, foam, and leaned-on cuts. A 9mm segment flexes and snaps under the pressure drywall scoring and rigid-foam cutting want. Step to the 18mm blades (42330 / 42355 / 42359) for stiffness, or the 25mm 42360 for single-pass depth.
  • A wall-station or a crew's week. Sixty-five edges is a kit's worth, not a gang-box fixture's worth. A crew burning blades daily buys the 42352 fifty-pack; a packing station buys a hang-hole dispenser.
  • A sharps-disposal solution. The storage sleeve holds fresh blades only. Used-blade capture is the 42356's feature, not this pack's.
  • Hook or round-tip work. These are pointed straight snap segments — they cut by pressing an edge through material. Pull-cutting flooring/roofing (42200 hook blades) and point-free safety cutting (42102 round-tip) are different blades entirely.

How the pros run it

01

Run it short, snap it early

Extend one or two segments, not four; a 9mm blade is designed to be fragile at full extension. Snap at the groove the moment cut quality softens — the segment breaks square and factory-sharp at the next line. Grip the exposed segment (pliers, or the knife's own snap slot where the host has one), bend away from the edge, done.
02

The snapped segment is the sharpest small thing on the jobsite

, and this pack does not answer where it goes — so you must. A snapped 9mm tip is tiny, hard to see, and stationed exactly where a kneeling hand or a reaching pocket will find it. Drop every spent segment into a closed sharps container, never a loose apron pocket, an open trash bag, or the floor. If a sanctioned used-blade home is a requirement rather than a habit, the line's 42356 ten-blade dispenser is the only member built with a used-blade chamber, and it is the honest answer for a program that has to prove disposal; this five-pack assumes you brought your own container.
03

Carbon steel, so keep it dry

The 9mm snap blade is carbon steel — it takes and holds a keen slicing edge, and it will bloom rust if it sits wet. That mostly does not matter, because you snap and discard long before rust is the failure mode; it matters for the blade left in the knife over a damp weekend. Wipe the working segment dry after wet wallpaper or paste work.

Asked at the counter

BUYER QUESTIONS ANSWERED BEFORE THE CART, NOT AFTER THE RETURN
How many cuts do I get?
Sixty-five factory-sharp edges: five blades, thirteen snap-points each. How many cuts depends on how often you snap — and in wallpaper and film, you should snap early and often, so treat sixty-five as a working budget, not a promise of five long-lived blades.
Is this a different, better blade than the 50-pack?
No. The 9mm blade is identical across the 5-pack, the 10-dispenser, and the 50-pack — same carbon steel, same thirteen points. You are choosing quantity and packaging, not performance.
Does the dispenser store used blades?
No — it holds the five fresh blades only. For built-in used-blade storage, that is the 42356.
Will these fit my knife?
Any 9mm snap-off knife, including Hyde's 42036 and 42045. Width is the only compatibility question for snap-off blades.
Why so many points compared to the 18mm?
Because you snap a fine blade more often. Thirteen points is Hyde matching edge supply to how fast precision work consumes edges.
Do they rust?
Carbon steel, so yes if stored wet — wipe the working blade dry after paste or wet work. In practice you discard segments long before rust matters.
