CHOOSE THIS WHEN
  • Carbon steel, 8 Points per blade.
  • 18mm Snap-Off Replacement Blades. Carbon steel, 8 Points per blade. Storage dispenser included.
DO NOT FORCE THE FIT
  • Precision and curves. Wallpaper, film, and tight radii want the slim 9mm tip (42345 / 42356 / 42352); an 18mm blade fights the curve.
  • Single-pass depth through thick board. For the deepest one-stroke cuts, the 25mm 42360 (in the screw-lock host) has more beam.
  • A wall fixture or a crew's week. Forty edges is a pouch supply; the 42355 ten-dispenser and the 42359 fifty-dispenser are the reusable, wall-living formats.
  • Hook or round-tip work. Pointed straight snap segments only — pulling flooring/roofing cuts (42200) and point-free safety cutting (42102) are other blades.

EXACT JOB METHODS FOR HYDE №42330

How the pros run it

01

Match extension to the cut

Short and fresh for scoring; long and locked for full-depth foam passes. The 18mm blade tolerates extension the 9mm cannot, but only against a host that clamps it — extension without a lock is how a deep blade creeps mid-cut.
02

Snap when the score drags

Break a segment the moment the edge tears rather than parts; eight points means you can afford the snap and still have a pouch pack's worth of edges left.
03

Used-blade discipline

A snapped 18mm segment is larger and easier to see than a 9mm tip, but it is still a two-edged piece of hard steel and it does not belong loose in a pocket, on the deck, or in a trash bag. This five-pack has no used-blade chamber, so drop spent segments into a sharps container. Among the 18mm packs, none carries a disposal compartment — the built-in used-blade chamber in this line is a 9mm feature (the 42356) — so 18mm crews handle sharps with an external bin as standard practice.
04

Carbon steel, kept dry

Eight-point carbon steel holds a keen edge and rusts if left wet; keep the dispenser dry and wipe the working segment after damp work. You snap past a blade long before rust matters, except the one left in the knife between jobs.

Asked at the counter

BUYER QUESTIONS ANSWERED BEFORE THE CART, NOT AFTER THE RETURN
How many edges?
Forty: five blades, eight snap-points each.
Why only eight points when the 9mm has thirteen?
Because an 18mm jobsite blade is snapped less often than a fine 9mm blade — Hyde matches edge count to consumption, not to width alone.
Is this a different blade from the 18mm 10- and 50-packs?
No — identical carbon steel and eight points. You are choosing quantity and dispenser form.
Can I extend it a long way to cut foam?
Yes — that is the 18mm blade's advantage, in a host that locks (the 42047's positive lock). Do not run a fine 9mm blade far extended.
Does the dispenser store used blades?
No — fresh blades only. No 18mm pack has a used-blade chamber; that is the 9mm 42356. Use a sharps container.
Will it fit my knife?
Any 18mm snap-off knife, including Hyde's 42047.

It’s a standard workhorse tool. One needs this for packaging, quick trims of string and jute, in the garden greenhouse or shed.
Scissors are wonderful but ou can close this knife to hide the blade. Retracting it. Bonus.
I hope it lasts a very long time. Buy extra blades because if you use this often, you’ll need replacements. Happy creating.
