The 1/16" square is tuned to lay a controllable film; if a job reads starved, the fix is usually a steeper blade angle (roughly 45° is the reference; flatter under-meters), a properly conditioned adhesive, or setting inside the flash window — not switching to a coarser notch that will over-spread the soft goods this trowel serves. One direction, straight ridges — the air-escape rule; it governs a spreader in mastic exactly as hard as a trowel in thinset. Honor the pail's clock. Resilient and carpet adhesives live and die by open/flash time; the covering goes down into the correct tack, not whenever you get to it. Care for the carbon steel and the meter. What's the difference between this and the 19032?
They look identical. They are — same MAXXGRIP body, same 4-1/2" x 11" blade. The difference is the meter: this one is a 1/16" square for carpet, wall tile, and vinyl adhesives; the 19032 is a 3/32" V for wallboard, metal, and ceramic mastic. Buy from the pail.
Is this a tile-floor trowel?
For mosaic and thin-set fine work, yes; for medium and large floor tile, no — those need the 19050's or 19070's deeper square. The 1/16" meter is a thin-adhesive meter.
Why buy the MAXXGRIP instead of the plastic or bare-steel fine square?
