Not a better all-purpose blade — it is a specialist, and on the line's biggest jobs (window glass, auto glass, cooktops) it is the wrong choice outright, for the stiffness reasons in §2b.
Not claimed individually wrapped — the .009" family's wrap sentence does not attach here, and PDP copy must not borrow it ⚑.
Not claimed compatible with every Hyde holder — conventional single-edge holders take both gauges, but Hyde's record is silent and this page makes no promise ⚑.
Not different from its siblings in any way beyond thickness — no harder steel, no different edge, no coating may be stated, because none is claimed ⚑.
Not a chisel, pry, or scaler — a razor blade at any gauge snaps under twist, and machined faces punish prying twice.
The heavy gauge changes the feel, not the physics. Angle stays shallow
the edge shears along the surface; pointed into the work it gouges, and the extra stiffness gouges deeper. Lubrication still matters — solvent on gaskets and adhesive is the .012" equivalent of soapy water on glass, cutting the needed force and with it the risk. Force discipline actually tightens with the stiffer blade: because it does not bow and telegraph overload the way a .009" does, the operator loses the flex warning, so the habit is deliberate moderate pressure and layers, never a single heave. Grip is holder-or-spine, same as the whole pattern — and until fitment is confirmed ⚑, this page assumes bare-blade and clamp-style use rather than promising any specific Hyde holder. Retirement is early and unsentimental: a hundred in the container is permission to stop pushing a tired edge.

BUYER QUESTIONS ANSWERED BEFORE THE CART, NOT AFTER THE RETURN
What exactly is different from the regular blades?
Thickness: .012" versus .009", which works out to roughly 2.4× the bending stiffness. That is the complete list — Hyde claims no other difference, and neither does this store.
Are these individually wrapped like the .009" packs?
Unconfirmed — the wrap claim belongs to the .009" family and does not attach to this SKU in the record. Handle the container as if blades may be unwrapped: spine grip, one at a time.
Will they fit my scraper or the 42005 carton cutter?
Standard single-edge holders conventionally accept both gauges, but Hyde's claims are silent on this SKU's fitment — test in your holder; no promise ships from this page.
Should I use these on my windshield or cooktop?
No — stiffness buys nothing on glass and passes more force into trapped grit. The .009" members are the glass blades; this is the push blade.
Aluminum cylinder head — safe?
Conditionally: cold, solvent-softened, lowest angle, least force — and plastic razors first where the face outranks the clock. §2a carries the full method and the caveat.
When do I step up past this blade?
When the .012" still deflects or the edge fails at the work — that is utility/snap-off territory, thicker behind the edge and built for load.
