Pull, don't push

draw the tool toward you at a steep angle, downforce directly over the edge — the full doctrine is the scrapers line doc's. At this width the temptation is to lean harder when the edge tires; resist it, because added downforce on a dull 1-1/2" edge substitutes force for sharpness and force arrives at the corners as gouges. Flip or file instead, keep the whole edge loaded rather than a corner, and keep the pull straight so you don't corner-load the blade. Sight the edge in raking light to tell a fileable dull edge (a bright line along the apex) from a rolled one (a one-sided glint). Is this the one with rough and smooth edges?
No — that is the 4-edge 10530 at the same width. This head's two edges are ground alike.
Do I need to buy blades often?
Not if you file. High-carbon steel resharpens at the existing bevel in seconds; replacement is for damage and for edges filed past recovery.
1" or 1-1/2"?
The 1-1/2" for general small work; the 1" (10500) only where the surface is an inch or narrower.
When do I step up to a two-handed head?
When sessions run long or a wall's worth of field opens up — the knobbed 10540/10550 add a second hand over the edge; this one-hand head trades that for reach into small work.
Lead paint?
