CHOOSE THIS WHEN
  • Lightweight Design: Crafted from lightweight rubber to conform to contours when spreading drywall compound.
  • Flexible 6-1/2" Blade: The 6-1/2-inch flexible blade conforms to angles other than 90 degrees, ensuring a precise fit and smooth finish in various corner configurations.
  • Versatile Use: Can be used hand-held for small or detailed work, or slipped onto 1-inch diameter poles for extended reach and ease of use in larger areas.
DO NOT FORCE THE FIT
  • Building the crease. Embedding corner tape and forming a crisp taped angle belong to the preloaded steel finishers (09410/09411), the Economy 05560, and the knife discipline. This tool's claims are wipe-down, spreading, and consistency — the pass after, never the embed ⚑.
  • Outside corners. Inside is in the name and in every claim; a convex nose line is the 09425's geometry.
  • Scraping cured compound. Rubber against cured mud is abrasion with extra steps. Wet-window work only.
  • Ridge-slicing and feathering. Dried wing-edge ridges and feathered flats are dry-knife work; the drywall knives own it.
  • The three-plane apex. The die corner where wall, wall, and ceiling converge defeats conforming rubber the same way it defeats folded steel — the pointing knives (02700/02701) take that pocket; every wide tool stops short.

How the pros run it

01

Light is the whole art

A conforming tool inverts the steel tools' logic: there is no preload to leverage, and pressure past "conformed" just flattens the rubber and squeegees the corner dry. The blade should bend to the angle and glide.
02

Let the corner set the angle

Square, obtuse, rake — the rubber takes what is there. Do not steer it toward an angle you wish the framing had built.
03

Wipe the blade or feed the wall

Everything the pass collects rides the rubber until you remove it. Between strokes: knife-edge squeegee or damp rag.
04

Long strokes, lapped wet

Consistency is the deliverable, and short choppy passes manufacture the inconsistency this tool exists to remove.
05

Know the hand-off

The moment work needs pressing, embedding, or crease-forming, this blade is the wrong physics — steel folds and knives are upstream; the 09158 follows them.

Asked at the counter

BUYER QUESTIONS ANSWERED BEFORE THE CART, NOT AFTER THE RETURN
Can I embed corner tape with it?
No — and its claims never say otherwise. Embedding is preloaded-fold work (09410/09411/05560) or knife discipline. This tool runs the pass after: clearing excess and evening the film while everything is wet .
Does it replace my corner finisher?
No; it completes one. Finisher builds the crease, this wipes the work down. Different passes, both claimed by name.
What actually fits the pole end?
A plain 1"-diameter pole, by slip fit (catalog). Not an Acme-threaded pole — that is the flat wipedown knives' standard, one aisle over. Check your pole before checkout .
Will it work on my vaulted ceiling's wall angle?
Yes — uniquely in this line. The rubber flexes to fit inside angles other than 90° per the catalog claim; every steel member is locked to square. Tape and coat by knife, then let this tool make the angle consistent.
Can it scrape off yesterday's drips?
No. Cured compound is a scraper's job; rubber works the wet window only.
How do I clean it?
Rinse before the mud sets — the easy-clean claim is real and the smooth surface comes back to bare in seconds. Keep the edge unnicked; a notched rubber edge prints like a crumb.
Hand-held or on the pole — which is right?
Both are claimed; the work decides. Detail runs, patches, and low corners hand-held; the wall-to-ceiling circuit and stairwell lines from the pole, walked rather than reached.
Why rubber instead of steel?
Because this pass wants conformity, not preload. Steel presses a shape onto a corner; rubber takes the corner's shape — which is why it alone follows off-square framing, and why it will never be the tool that forms a crease.
