  • Installing corner bead. Not a setter, crimper, or plumb guide — bead goes on by its own tools and rules before this tool's first pass (§1, §2b ).
  • Off-square outside corners. Its claims commit it to wrapping 90° corners; splayed or bullnose-profile corners and odd-angle returns are outside every accepted claim and outside this page.
  • Filling holes and craters. It finishes planes into a line; it cannot deliver or compact fill. Knives fill; this tool wraps what's filled.
  • Scraping and demolition. Raking out a smashed corner is stiff-blade work upstream; flexible preloaded wings keep their set by never being levers.

Track the nose, not a face

The tool self-centers on the corner's projecting line — steer along it, wrist neutral behind the offset grip, and resist favoring the face you can see better. Tipping toward one face lifts the far wing edge and floods the near one.

Wet mud, thin coats

The fold finishes fresh compound; it tears at skinned compound and rides over cured ridges. Multiple thin wrapped coats with ridge discipline between is the entire rhythm.

Even squeeze-out at both wing edges is the pass grading itself: symmetric. One dry edge means the tool was rotated off the bisector — correct the wrist angle, not the pressure.

Asked before buying

Will it also do inside corners?
No — the fold opens the wrong way and cannot enter a concave angle. Inside corners are the 09410/09411/05560's territory; the two geometries share a family and not one job.
Do I put corner bead on first, or does this replace it?
Neither answer comes from this tool's claims, which never mention bead . On new work, bead is the standard armor for outside corners and its installation is upstream of any finishing tool. The 09425's claims cover finishing outside corner joints in taping and patching; the repair lane (§2c) is its clearest claims-safe home.
Why 83° instead of 90°?
Pinch. Forced open thirteen degrees to wrap a square corner, the stainless fold presses both wings inward against both faces for the whole pull — that grip is what keeps the tool tracking the nose instead of wandering a face.
Can it straighten a corner that's been crushed?
No — a crushed core is structural repair, replaced before finishing begins. What it can do, better than a flat blade, is rebuild the straight mud line through a patch once the core is sound.
What about bullnose (rounded) corners?
Outside its claims and outside this page. Its stated optimization is tight flexing around 90° corners.
Does it leave marks?
Two thin wing-edge ridges on the adjacent flats — normal, planned-for, sliced off dry and feathered by knives. The nose itself, run right, needs almost nothing.
Will it rust in the wash bucket?
Stainless per the claims. Rinse for the fold's cleanliness, not the alloy's survival — a crumb in the channel scores the nose line every pass thereafter.
