Use the flex point

The engineered bend spreads and feathers — load light, keep the angle low on the wipe, and let the blade lay the mud flat. Thin coats, multiple passes. Fastener strips and seams build in two or three thin coats, each feathered wider; one heavy coat cracks and shrinks. Tap, don't hammer through. The Hammer Head sets a fastener with a firm tap — it's a nail-setter, not a framing hammer; let the butt do a controlled job. Set before you fill. The workflow is set the pop → dimple → fill → coat, in that order, so the fill sits below the surface and finishes flush. Carbon rust discipline: wipe the blade dry after water-based compound and oil for storage — the keen carbon edge that finishes cleanly is the carbon edge that rusts if left wet. Keep the edge clean and true — dried mud on a 3" edge streaks a wide pass.

What's the Hammer Head for?
Setting popped drywall nails and dimpling nail holes with the butt of the handle — so you reset the pop and fill it with one tool, no hammer trip.
Is this a putty knife or a joint knife?
At 3" it's a joint knife — wide enough to coat fastener strips, feather patches, and tape short seams, which a 1-1/2"–2" putty knife can't.
02355 or the 3-1/2" 02500?
The 02500 is a touch wider with no Hammer Head; the 02355 trades width for the nail-setter. Popped fasteners in the job → 02355.
02355 or the stainless 06357?
Same width; the 06357 is rust-proof and more limber for pure feathering, the 02355 is carbon with the Hammer Head for repair rounds.
Can I tape a whole room with it?
For short repair seams, yes; for a whole room you want wider taping knives and a hawk — that's the drywall-finishing set.
