Know which face is flat

The chisel's whole advantage is the single bevel — keep the flat face toward the surface you're protecting, bevel up, and the edge rides flat. Flip it bevel-down and it digs. Very low angle. Lower than a square scraper; you want the edge slipping under, not chopping in. Let the thickness work. Don't baby the push — the .075" spine is built to be leaned on; that rigidity is what you paid for. Push for the shave. Most chisel-scraping is a forward push with the flat riding the plane. Hone the bevel, polish the flat. Maintain the single-bevel grind with a file or stone on the bevel only; keep the flat face true and smooth. Carbon rust discipline: wipe dry after any wet or chemical work; oil for storage. Not a pry bar: straight shear, not sideways leverage.

What's a chisel edge and why do I want one?
It's a single bevel with one flat face. Laid flat, it slips under paint and residue and shaves them off without the corners gouging — better than a square edge for getting under coatings.
Why is this blade so thick?
It's .075" — the thickest in the line, vs the usual .055". That rigidity lets you lean on it through cured, hard material without the blade flexing or chattering.
02200 or the stainless 01240?
Same size and grind; 02200 is carbon (force, keen edge, rusts) and 01240 is stainless (wet work, rust-proof). Choose by whether the job is hard-and-dry or wet.
Will it rust?
Carbon — wipe it dry, oil it for storage. For wet chisel work without the ritual, the 01240.
Can I use it in a refinery?
No — steel sparks. The non-sparking brass chisel at this width is the 02215.
