How to Match a Roller Frame to a Roller Cover Core — Require a Maker Fit Bridge Before Assembly
Job: route one identified roller cover to one identified frame only when a maker supplies the fit bridge, then screen the documented pairing for visible damage, mismatch, or failed maker-defined assembly without inventing a core size, adapter route, cross-house fit, thread, retention feature, or performance claim.

Time: allow one uninterrupted documentation and inspection session before opening coating. No universal duration or production-readiness test is stated.
Difficulty: low-force inspection, high-consequence decision. A mismatch discovered dry costs minutes; absence of a visible dry failure still does not certify fit or performance.
Width is not core identity. A “4-inch cover” and a “4-inch frame” are not a proven pair merely because the numbers agree. Width describes the span presented to the work; mounting depends on the cover's internal construction and the frame's mounting architecture. This guide permits only two maker-supplied bridges into assembly:
the exact frame maker documents the cover family or exact cover; or
the cover maker documents the exact frame or applicable frame class.
If neither side supplies that bridge, the pairing remains UNKNOWN and is not assembled as a fit experiment. After a bridge exists, physical handling may reject the identified pairing when it exposes damage, interference, incomplete seating, or another maker-defined failure. It may produce an acceptance result only when the maker supplies the acceptance procedure and criteria; this guide supplies neither.
Start with the exact nine-frame decision map
Route A — the documented multi-family map: Hyde 47402
Its accepted map states:
bare frame for mini rollers;
the supplied 3/4-inch adaptor for 3/4-inch-core jumbo-mini covers;
6-inch mini rollers;
the supplied 1-1/2-inch adaptor for 4-inch covers with the standard 1-1/2-inch core.
Those are documented families, not permission to treat every cover carrying a similar nominal label as suitable. The exact cover still needs cover-side instructions consistent with the documented route. Hyde documents adapter sizes and family routes, but not the adapter engagement, release, retention force, or any stacking method. Use Hyde's physical instructions if available; without them, uncertain engagement is a stop, not a locally solvable test.
Route B — mini frames without a frame-side cover roster
Route C — 9-inch fixed cage frames
Its guide records the same cage claims as 47410 and only the handle as the documented difference.
Their product guides place them in the standard 9-inch cover class through the parent line's vocabulary, but the accepted frame rows do not print a numeric core specification or exact compatible-cover roster. Do not reverse-engineer one from frame width, title fractions, shared page slugs, wire count, or the retaining ring.
Route D — the 18-inch Flexi boundary: Hyde 47420
The frame's handle language also conflicts: catalog and product description carry handle wording while Hyde's official video says the 18-inch version has no handle and requires an extension pole.
Record identities before touching the parts
frame maker, exact model, and observed frame condition;
cover maker, exact model or SKU, nominal width, and the maker's stated frame/core fitment language verbatim;
every original adapter or mounting part present;
any maker-supplied assembly or acceptance procedure and its revision;
whether a pole is part of the intended assembly;
unresolved statements, damaged parts, missing instructions, or contradictions.
Do not merge products by appearance. Do not relabel an unknown cover from measurements taken with a ruler; a measured bore can help identify a question, but it does not create a maker claim.
Use these statuses:
MAKER PROCEDURE RESULT — record the maker's named procedure and its result language verbatim; do not translate it into a broader fit or performance claim.
OBSERVED REJECTION — damage, interference, incomplete seating, or another maker-defined stop condition occurred.
If documented assembly exposes no rejection, record only the literal observations. There is no local positive fit status.
Inspect the unassembled system
Work clean and dry.
Cleaning may restore a part whose only defect is removable residue if the tool and coating instructions permit the cleaner. Cleaning does not repair a bent rod, softened cover bore, cracked adapter, damaged ring, or distorted arm.
Assemble only a maker-documented route, and screen for rejection
Follow the cover and frame instructions. The observations below can stop and reject an assembly; they cannot accept one unless the maker's own procedure defines the acceptance result. This guide supplies no seating force, spin count, pull force, stroke count, retention threshold, load, speed, angle, or service simulation.
4.1 Wire-frame route — 47400
Slide the cover onto the mounting rod only by the cover maker's documented method, without impact or bending.
If the maker supplies no acceptance procedure beyond assembly, record the observed steps and stop conditions literally. Do not assign a pass result.
4.2 Fixed cage route — 47401, 47410, 47411, 47413, 92005, 92012
Mount and remove only under the cover or frame maker's method. Stop for inability to reach the maker-defined position, interference, deformation, damage, or required hammering or improvised leverage. Do not invent a universal “firm push,” spin behavior, seated resistance, or pull-force standard for these six frames.
4.3 47402 adapter route
Select only the documented route for the exact cover family. Install the original adapter and cover only according to Hyde's physical instructions. Stop for uncertain engagement, inability to reach a maker-defined position, interference, damage, or any need to stack, shim, tape, or force parts. Without a Hyde acceptance procedure for adapter engagement, assembly can reveal rejection but cannot certify retention.
The 180-degree pivot and pole thread solve work geometry, not cover fit. Do not exercise either as a substitute fit test.
4.4 47420 dual-arm route
Use only a cover admitted by the documented 18-inch route and install it by Hyde's physical Flexi instructions. Do not infer a core specification from the arm spacing, invent a cycling criterion, or create an adapter.
Let the maker define any acceptance procedure
After documented assembly, there are only two valid routes:
The maker supplies an acceptance or pre-use procedure. Follow it exactly—same components, order, motions, limits, observations, and result language. Record the document, revision, and maker-defined result verbatim. A maker-defined failure produces OBSERVED REJECTION. Any other result remains the maker's result; this guide does not rename it as a local pass.
The maker supplies no acceptance procedure. Stop the fit-evaluation sequence after assembly and visual inspection. Record the documented fit bridge and any rejection observed. Do not invent strokes, spins, lifts, pull tests, pole cycles, loaded trials, sample-area tests, pass counts, or “bounded local” production acceptance.
Handling during documented assembly may expose immediate interference or damage. Lack of interference during that handling is not a load rating, retention result, service-life prediction, finish-performance result, or production authorization.
This guide ends before loading or production
Loading introduces cover fabric, coating chemistry, film behavior, surface interaction, working force, cleanup, and retention under use. None may be converted into a local fit test.
If a maker procedure later exposes movement, interference, damage, unexpected release, adapter or arm displacement, thread-joint change, or another named failure, record OBSERVED REJECTION and stop under that procedure.

If the cover and frame are both 4 inches, will they fit?
Not from width alone. Width describes working span, not the mounting system. Use 47402's documented family map where applicable; otherwise require an exact cover-maker statement for the frame or applicable class.
Which frame has the documented multi-core map?
Hyde 47402. Its accepted routes are bare-frame minis, 3/4-inch adaptor for 3/4-inch-core jumbo minis, 6-inch minis, and the 1-1/2-inch adaptor for 4-inch standard-1-1/2-inch-core covers.
Can I stack the 47402 adapters?
No stacking method is documented. Do not stack them.
Which exact covers fit 47400 or 47401?
Require a cover maker's exact-frame or applicable frame-class statement, then follow only maker-defined assembly or acceptance procedures. Do not infer the answer from width or from the other variant.
Do all 9-inch covers fit 47410, 47411, and 47413?
No universal claim is made here. Their frame rows do not print an exact cover roster or numeric core specification.
Does the 47413 retaining ring guarantee any cover will stay on?
Can I use a smaller cover on 47420?
Not under the accepted route.
Does a dry assembly prove compatibility?
It may reveal a rejection such as interference, damage, or inability to follow the maker-defined assembly path. Without maker acceptance criteria, absence of a visible failure produces no fit or production result.
No thread claim is documented for 92005 or 92012. Do not infer one from handle appearance. The Hyde members document Acme frame-side connections, but each exact pole requires its own maker-side fit statement.
Can tape, a shim, or extra force rescue a loose fit?
Those moves hide a mismatch and create an undocumented mounting system. Reject the pair.
