Is this the right tool for your job?

CHOOSE THIS WHEN
  • https://hydetools.com | Not much has changed with paint roller frames over the decades.
  • Introducing the Flexi-Frame roller frames, from Hyde.
  • 18" Adjustable Flexi-Frame. Patented flexible roller arm walk off free design, clean hands roller removal, built in bucket hook on poly pro handle, Acme thread for pole attachment.
DO NOT FORCE THE FIT
  • The bedroom repaint. The line doc's honesty, kept: a first-time DIYer painting a room wants a 9" frame and the parent line's 3/8" ladder, not a system purchase.
  • Cut-up rooms. Doors, windows, radiators, and furniture every arm-span defeat the width advantage; maneuverability is the 9" tier's currency.
  • Hand-held work of any kind. Per Hyde's own video there is no handle to hold ⚑ — no pole, no tool. The conflict with catalog handle language is flagged, but no reading of the record makes this a hand frame.
  • Mini- and 9"-cover duty. Nothing smaller than 18" mounts here; the rest of the line exists for the rest of the work.
  • Being sold feature-first. Its features (arms, angle, clearance) are system consequences; a buyer who hasn't priced the tray, covers, and pole hasn't been sold honestly yet.

How the pros run it

01

Respect the mass

Wet, an 18" cover multiplies a 9"'s load; every technique rule downstream — pole always ⚑ (per the video's no-handle statement), moderate loads, lane discipline — is mass management first. Angle is a pre-paint decision: 0° walls, 30° floors and ceilings, set dry, locked, tested. Let the arms work: the even-pressure claim is geometry, not magic — it holds when the pole drives square; cant the frame and you reintroduce the taper the design paid to remove. Corner discipline: the half-inch arm clearance is a documented gift — cut in narrow, then run the field to the cut line; stop treating corners as 9"-era no-go zones. End of day: arm-release the cover into the bucket (2d), rinse the arms, done — the fastest wash-up of any frame in the line, on the frame whose cover would be the worst to hand-wrestle.

Asked at the counter

BUYER QUESTIONS ANSWERED BEFORE THE CART, NOT AFTER THE RETURN
Does it come with a handle?
The record conflicts : catalog and description carry handle language, Hyde's video states the 18" has no handle and attaches to a pole. This store flags it rather than guessing; what is certain is that the pole is the working drive.
What is the 30° setting for?
Floors and ceilings, per the official video (0° for walls): the cover sits flat on the horizontal surface while the pole rises to a standing working angle (2b).
Will covers walk off?
The documented claim is elimination, and the geometry explains it: two arms, no open end (2c).
How do I get the wet cover off?
Flex an arm, cover drops in the bucket — documented no-mess removal; hands never touch nap (2d).
Can I roll close to corners with something this wide?
Closer than a classic 9" cage — about a half inch of arm clearance per the video, so cut-ins get narrower, not wider (2a).
Is it for me?
Hundreds of square feet of open wall, ceiling, or floor at a time: yes, as a system. One furnished room: the 9" tier, honestly.
What else do I need?
The system: an 18" cover (parent line — Hyde 47350/47336/47369, Richard 91817/91818/91808), an 18" tray (92113) or wide screen-and-pail, and an Acme pole. The frame alone paints nothing.

official video publisher description
https://hydetools.com | Not much has changed with paint roller frames over the decades. Until now. Introducing the Flexi-Frame roller frames, from Hyde. These paint roller frames were designed from the ground up with innovative new features. Purchase online: https://hydestore.com/products/47412?_pos=2&_sid=139dcd5cf&_ss=r With 2 attachment points -- one at either end of the roller -- "walk-off" is now a thing of the past. The 2-arm design also ensures even pressure across the entire roller. And because both sides of the Flexi-Frame have a slim connector arm, that leaves about a half inch of space between the edge of the actual roller and the wall, you can paint right up against an opposite wall or ceiling without worrying about accidentally getting paint on the other side; and because you can get so close, you don’t have to make your cut-ins as wide, saving you time. Lastly, at the end of the job, you can remove the roller without having to touch the roller. The Flexi-Frame comes in 2 sizes: 9" and 18” version (18" version is Tool No. 47420). The 18" of course helps you get big paint jobs done quicker, but it also has one added feature: it can be adjusted to a 30-degree angle for painting floors and ceilings. (Note that the 18-inch version does not have a handle, so you’ll need to attach it to an extension pole.) More at https://hydetools.com — OFFICIAL EXACT MODEL
