Cutting crisp lines. No angular brush here; supply a sash brush or choose the 81307 (SRT) or 81303 (standard).
Oil, alkyd, and varnish. SRT is a water-side filament — use natural bristle (81302) for solvent finishes.
The cheapest possible everyday job. If the paint is basic flat latex, plain polyester (81304) does the same coverage for less; SRT's payback is on premium fast-dry finishes.
Whole walls and big fields. Even the 3" is a hand-finish brush — roll open area and finish trim and faces with this ladder.
Fine touch-up or scrubbing. Sub-half-inch detail is the artist drawer (80011–80017); scrubbing/stripping is the wire-brush side of the catalog.
dip a third of the bristle; SRT holds a lot, so tap the excess inside the can and expect fewer trips than a plain brush. Laying off: spread with pressure, finish light and unidirectional; SRT's fine tip does the leveling, so let the last strokes glide rather than scrub. Keeping a wet edge: with fast-dry paint, work modest sections and lay each off into the still-wet edge of the last — SRT buys you a little more open time, not unlimited time. Cleaning (the ten-year part): water-based paint means warm soapy water; flush up into the heel until clear, spin or shake out, comb the filament straight, and hang or wrap so each flat keeps its shape. SRT is durable but not immortal — dried paint in the heel splays it permanently and a brush stood on its tip takes a set. Comb and hang every session; the 45950 comb and 43470 spinner are the tools for it.

BUYER QUESTIONS ANSWERED BEFORE THE CART, NOT AFTER THE RETURN
What does SRT mean?
Solid Round Tapered — a synthetic filament drawn to a natural-bristle-like taper so it holds more paint and lays fast-dry latex out smoother than plain polyester.
Is it for latex or oil?
Water-based paint, and especially fast-drying low-VOC latex. For oil, use natural bristle (81302).
Does this set cut in?
No — all three are straight flats. Add a sash brush or choose the 81307/81303 for cut lines.
Is SRT worth it over plain polyester?
On premium fast-dry finishes that show, yes; on basic flat wall paint the gap is small and the 81304 is the value pick.
What's the biggest brush?
A 3" flat — the finish field brush of the ladder.
How do I clean it?
Warm soapy water up into the heel until clear, then comb straight and hang to dry in shape.
