Not the brush for heavy paint under pole load — a standard filament flexes, and pushing a thick acrylic at the end of a pole wants the firm-filament 80832 instead.
Not a fine-line detail brush at 2-1/2″: muntins and narrow reveals are 1-1/2″ work.
Not the oil/varnish finisher — Richard's use with all paints covers carrying oil, but a poly-nylon blend won't lay enamel or varnish to a mirror; natural white bristle does that.
Not a scrub or prep brush — it's an applicator, and the flexible neck is a liability, not an asset, against anything abrasive.
And not a substitute for a straight sash at the bench: for cutting a wall you can simply reach, the fixed-handle 80813 is lighter, cheaper, and just as precise.

How the pros run it

Set the neck first, then paint

Bend and lock the angle for the target before you load, so you're not fighting the geometry with a wet brush. Shorter strokes at reach. Leverage on a pole multiplies small hand motions; deliberate, shorter pulls hold the line where long sweeps overshoot. Let the neck hold the angle, not your wrist — that's what it's for. Load one-third, tap don't scrape — the reach makes reloading costly, so protect the reservoir and the heel. Standard filament wants finish discipline — it lays a clean line but flexes more than the firm version, so don't overload it or lean into it on a pole. Clean the neck and the heel. Waterborne paint dries in the flexible joint as readily as in the ferrule; wash it out and comb the filaments straight so both the head and the hinge stay working (line-wide care rule).

80833 or 80832?

Same brush, different filament stiffness. Standard (80833) for finish-quality cut lines at reach; firm (80832) for heavy paint and control under pole load (§5).

Can I use it as a normal cut-in brush?

Yes at arm's length — but for a wall you can simply reach, the fixed-handle 80813 is lighter and more direct (§4, §5).

How do I keep the neck working?

Wash paint out of the flexible joint and the heel every session and comb the filaments straight (§3).

What's the goose neck actually for?

Reach — cutting in stairwells and high walls from a pole, and painting behind radiators, tanks, and fixtures a straight brush can't be pointed at (§2). Richard's own copy: reach the unreachable.

Does it really fit any pole?

Richard's copy says it fits any extension pole and stays the same length as a standard brush (§1). Confirm your pole's thread as always.

All paints, really?

Richard rates it for use with all paints; in practice it's a waterborne cut-in brush that will also move oil, though it's not the varnish lay-off tool (§1, §4).
