Retract or fix your carry discipline to the knife

Because the pouch holds the knife blade-exposed, a retractable knife should be retracted before it goes in (the holster carries the handle; the edge should not be live on your hip if the knife can hide it), and a fixed-blade knife rides with a permanently live edge — position the pouch where a stumble won't drive it into your leg, and treat the whole rig as sharp.
