✕DO NOT FORCE THE FIT
- Not for solvent-borne coatings — lacquer, shellac, oil enamels, two-part finishes — or their thinners: the chemistry attacks the blade itself, and one solvent day ends it.
- That work belongs to the aluminum family wholesale.
- Not for line-is-the-product work: a flexible edge follows hands as well as walls, and laser-straight two-tone breaks want the stiff 28030 — there is no stiff polystyrene at any length, an assortment gap the line doc states plainly.
- Not for production stride: no 48-inch poly exists either; corridors belong to the 28040.
- Not a masking system: fog settles on the room regardless — the drops and film stay in the plan.

How the pros run it
01
Bow to contact, then stop
press until the daylight under the edge disappears; more bow lifts the tips. The feel arrives inside the first room and never leaves. Awning angle always: face toward the gun, set at the PivotNeck once per line — a shield tilted the wrong way channels mist onto the surface it guards. Lift, never slide: a slid edge drags its bead down the line. Gun path parallel: never rake along the blade toward the tip. Water is the cleaner: damp rag mid-job, wash at day's end, dry, done — and no solvent, ever, which on this blade is not a preference but a material rule. Store it kindly: flat or hung; a heat-warped or edge-dinged blade seals like a ruler with a bite out of it ⚑ (heat-sensitivity framing is authored polystyrene knowledge, not a Hyde care claim).
Asked at the counter
BUYER QUESTIONS ANSWERED BEFORE THE CART, NOT AFTER THE RETURN
Is this the right shield for a first-time sprayer?
At standard length, yes — flexible seal for imperfect surfaces, friendly weight, and a price that forgives learning. The full first-job method is 2a. (For the smallest rooms, its 24-inch sibling the 28060 is the learner's blade proper.)
What paints can it handle?
Waterborne — latex, acrylic. Solvent-borne coatings and their thinners (lacquer, oil, shellac, two-part) attack polystyrene; that work is the aluminum family's, full stop.
How do I clean it?
Damp rag mid-job, water wash at day's end. Never solvent — on this blade the cleaner is the hazard.
How long does it last?
Until its working edge rounds past sealing or dried buildup wins — then replace it. Semi-disposable is the design, not a failure (2d).
Is it really 36 inches?
The catalog row says 36" x 9", and this SKU's own package art carries 914 mm — the only package-verified metric dimension in the family.
Does the handle come in the box? Does it fit a pole?
The 18" Acme hardwood handle is the family claim (box contents unstated per-SKU); pole fitment is the family inference (official wording only on the 28100). Verify both before relying on either.
Why did my shield print a line on the ceiling?
The wet bead on the edge — wipe every few placements, before it forms, and lift rather than slide (2d).
