Oil, alkyd, and varnish. Built for latex/waterborne paint; oil-based coatings, varnish, and oil stain belong to natural bristle (Hyde Extra 47380-series, Richard bristle brushes).
Cutting in walls and ceilings. The room cut line is a 1-1/2"–2-1/2" angular sash brush's job (Hyde Millenium 47370-series, Richard B5 sash family); a 3/4" trim brush is too narrow to cut a room at pace.
Broad faces and fields. A flush door field or a wide flat baseboard face is a flat brush's or roller's work; keep the trim brush to edges and members.
Fine muntins and slivers below its width. Divided-light bars a 3/4" overshoots want the 5/8" (13515).
Load a third to half of the bristle and keep paint out of the ferrule, where it dries and splays the brush permanently. Tap the excess off inside the can, don't wipe it over the rim and strip the reservoir. Set the edge and draw one pass: present the thin tapered tip to the line, begin just off the end, return into the corner, and pull a single smooth stroke, letting the edge steer the paint. Keep a wet edge in fast waterborne paint by working short lengths. Clean the heel first: rinse the latex under warm water, clear the paint from the base of the fill, comb the filaments parallel, shake or spin dry, and store in a keeper so the tapered edge stays square. Cleaned this way a synthetic trim brush lasts for years; dried loaded, it's scrap.

It carries a sash bar or narrow casing in one pass while keeping a clean line — the everyday trim width.
