Oil, alkyd, and varnish. It is built for latex/waterborne paint. Oil-based coatings, varnish, and oil stain lay best from natural bristle (Hyde Extra 47380-series, Richard bristle brushes); a synthetic can survive solvent but is the wrong choice for those finishes.
Wall and ceiling cut-in. A room's cut line is a 1-1/2"–2-1/2" angular sash brush's job (Hyde Millenium 47370-series, Richard B5 sash family); a 5/8" trim brush is far too narrow for it.
Broad faces and fields. A door field, a wide baseboard face, or a shutter panel is slow and lap-prone with a 5/8" brush — use a wider trim or a flat.
Sub-1/2" detail. Nail-head touch-up and hairline repair are artist-brush work (80011-80017).
Dip a third to half the bristle; paint pushed into the heel dries there and splays the brush for good. Tap off the excess against the can rather than dragging it over the rim, which strips the load the brush is meant to carry. Draw, don't scrub. Set the thin tapered edge to the line, begin just short of the end, come back into the corner, and pull one smooth pass — the tapered tip guides the paint to the edge if you let it. Keep a wet edge in fast waterborne paint; work short lengths and join wet to wet. Clean at the heel first: rinse latex out under warm water, work the paint out of the base of the fill where it meets the ferrule, comb the filaments back parallel, shake or spin dry, and store hanging or in a keeper so the tapered edge holds. A synthetic trim brush cleaned this way lasts for years; one left to dry loaded is finished.

Why is it "for latex"?
The fill is synthetic, which holds its stiffness in water; natural bristle would go limp in waterborne paint.
Why 5/8"?
It is the narrowest of the tapered trim brushes — for divided-light bars, thin grilles, and slivers wider brushes overshoot.

Same size and job; the Elegance is the SRT finish upgrade, this is the standard everyday tier. Buy up when the trim shows.
Can I use it in oil?
