  • It is also not a fine-detail fill knife: at 1-1/2" it bridges muntin rabbets and rides over tight trim quirks that a 1-1/4" (07010) or 3/4" (02005) enters.
  • And it is not the abuse tool of a jobsite bucket — the clear-coated carbon and hardwood are a bench build; opening lids, prying staples, and scraping slabs are punishment the nylon Black & Silver knives absorb better.
  • Use it for what it is: the shop's general fill and glazing blade.

Work the bow

a flexible knife fills by flexing — press material in, then drag nearly flat so the bow spreads the wipe and feathers the edge to nothing. Width for coverage: 1-1/2" is chosen to level a fill or carry a bevel across a broader span in fewer strokes; use it for that and step narrower for tight rabbets and profiles. Hone the carbon keen: dress the clear-coated high-carbon edge square with a mill file when it dulls — a keen edge strikes filler clean and cuts a crisp glazing bevel. The clear-coat is not immunity: wipe the blade dry after water-based compound anyway; carbon under a nick will rust. This tool wants solvent: the hardwood handle is built for the lacquer-thinner bench — that's where it belongs.

Fill or scrape?
Fill — the general do-most fill and glazing blade. Scraping is the stiff sibling's job (07160).
Why 1-1/2"?
It's the standard putty-knife width — enough coverage to level a fill or carry a glazing bevel in fewer strokes than a narrow blade.
Why hardwood, not plastic?
It survives a solvent-soaked finishing bench and it's the heritage build; overmold grips soften in lacquer thinner.
Will it rust?
It's clear-coated to resist rust, but wipe it dry after water-based compound anyway — the coat guards the faces, not a scratch.
What should I pair it with?
The same-width stiff 07160 — strip with the stiff, fill with this flex; together they're the small-repair system.
07110 or the 1-1/4" 07010?
General glazing and patching → 07110; tight muntins and fine trim → 07010.
