  • It is stiff, so it does not fill or finish (it can't conform; that's the flexible 2" knives, 02250/01150).
  • It is not a chisel — for flat-riding, get-under-the-coating work in a plant, the brass chisels 02215 (1-5/16") and 02420 (3") are ground for it; the 02320's square edge is the generalist.

Work with the softness, not against it

Brass won't hold an edge like steel — dress it more often, and don't try to power it through material that really wants a steel scraper; you'll just deform the edge. Square-edge technique. Like any square stiff scraper, work it at a low 15–30° angle and let the edge shear the deposit rather than chiselling into the surface. Concentrate the pressure. Two inches keeps your force focused — steer the edge onto the stubborn spots. Protect the non-spark property. Don't grind it on a steel-contaminated wheel or let steel swarf embed in the soft face; dress it clean so it stays truly non-sparking. Delicate-surface mindset: let the brass sacrifice itself — ease the pressure and let the soft edge do the protecting.

How is this different from the 02300?
Same 2" stiff scraper, made of non-sparking, non-magnetic brass instead of steel — so it's safe in hazardous atmospheres and won't gouge soft surfaces, at the cost of a softer, shorter-lived edge.
Why would I pay more for a softer knife?
Because a steel spark can ignite a refinery or solvent room, and there brass is the only legal choice. Also for scraping delicate metals and stone without marring them.
Square or chisel edge?
Square — the general-purpose brass scraper. For flat-riding, get-under-it chisel work in a plant, the brass chisels are the 02215 and 02420.
Will it hold an edge?
Not like steel — dress it more often. That's inherent to brass, and the softness is what protects delicate surfaces.
02320 or 06321?
Same 2" brass; the 06321 adds a cushioned overmold grip. Spec-sheet facility buy → 02320; personal kit wanting comfort → 06321.
