  • The 06107 is deliberately limber, so it skates over material a stiffer blade would move — it will not press filler firmly into a deep hole (that's a standard flexible knife, the 06108), and it cannot scrape failed paint or lift putty at all (that's the stiff scrapers, 06158/06308).
  • Ask it to do a fill knife's or a scraper's job and it flexes away from the work.
  • It's a specialist, and its value is in staying one: the last coat, wiped flat.

How the pros run it

Thin, low, long

a finishing skim is a thin coat, wiped at a low angle, in a long continuous stroke — all three, every time. Let the blade find the wall, not the other way around: the extra flex means you apply light pressure and let the blade conform to the wall's plane; press hard and you defeat the limberness that makes it a finish knife. Feather every edge to zero: the perimeter of the coat is where patches fail, so ease the pressure at the ends of the stroke and taper the compound out. Move work off the sandpaper: the better the blade lays the coat, the less you sand — this knife's payoff is measured in sanding passes you don't make. Stainless, so no drying ritual; keep the overmold out of solvent. Not a pressing or scraping tool: if you find yourself bearing down, you're using the wrong knife (see §4).

Will it rust?

Why won't it fill my deep holes well?
It's too limber by design — press the fill with a standard flexible knife (06108), then finish with this. (§4)
