How the pros run it

The 5" rewards a finisher who has learned to steer flex

bias pressure to the blade's center so the corners float and don't cut tram-lines, load low and wipe firm and high, and let the extra inch of blade do the covering rather than forcing speed. Bed tape with film left under it; wipe the blade on the pan rim every return so no crumb rides the edge into a fresh coat. In corners, commit to one face per coat — the 5" gives you the reach to do it clean. Stainless means end-of-day is a wash, not a wipe-down-and-oil.

Why choose 5" over 4" or 6"?
More compound and tape moved per pass than a 4", more corner control than a 6". It's the single-knife compromise for finishers who dislike both extremes.
Can it still do inside corners?
Yes — it's corner-capable, with a bit more reach than a 4". Six inches is where corner cleanliness starts to go.
01740 or 01750?
Same blade; the 01750 adds a nail-setting Hammer Head® butt.
Will it rust?
No — stainless, wash and go. The carbon 02750 is keener but needs drying.
Fill and skim coats?
No — use a wide taping knife for those. The 5" is a tape/spot/corner knife.
