How the pros run it

The blade technique is the 5"'s

steer flex to float the corners, load low and wipe high, use the extra inch to cover rather than to hurry, bed tape with film beneath it, and keep the pan rim wiping the edge clean. Stainless means wash-and-go. The Hammer Head® adds one rule — controlled taps, square to the fastener head, butt face kept clean of dried mud so it seats metal-to-metal. Over-setting a fastener tents the paper the other way and makes a hollow you then have to fill; seat it flush, no more.

More compound and tape per pass than a 4", better corner control than a 6" — the finisher's compromise width, here with a setter.
Rust?
No — stainless. The carbon 02770 is keener but needs drying.
Real hammer?
No — light taps to seat drywall fasteners only.
