Is this the right tool for your job?

CHOOSE A DIFFERENT TOOL WHEN
  • Stucco, brick, and cinder block snag and tear microfiber's fine filaments — that's woven or general-purpose long-nap territory, not this cover's.
  • It's wrong for gloss doors and cabinets (step down to a 1/4" for the thin enamel film gloss wants) and for anything past light texture (a 3/8" bridges the valleys of orange-peel and knockdown — step up to the 1/2" 98131 or longer).
  • Microfiber is for smooth-to-semi-smooth surfaces where the finish is the point.

THE JOB, THE REASON, AND THE BETTER TOOL

How the pros run it

01

The whole discipline is restraint. Microfiber's capacity is a gift you pay for with a light hand

press it and the flooded film sags and runs; let it lay the paint and it self-levels. Load it fully off a screen or a bucket grid — it takes a lot — then distribute each load away from your wet edge and lay off top-to-bottom in a single direction. Keep the wall a single performance: work three-to-four-foot columns floor to ceiling, always rolling back into wet paint, never breaking mid-wall. It rinses slowly — work water through to the core until it runs clear so it doesn't dry into a stiff cylinder — and de-lint it before the first load.

BUYER QUESTIONS, ANSWERED BEFORE YOU ORDER
Why microfiber for a wall?
Capacity and finish: it holds about 3× the paint of a standard cover (fewer reloads, a longer wet edge, fewer lap marks) and lays a near-spray, low-stipple film that reads smooth even in sheen.
Will it fit my frame?
It rides a 1-1/2″ pro core, the standard North American cage diameter — the same core Hyde's 9″ covers and the Flexi-Frame use.
Single or the 3-pack?
One room or an accent wall — single. Whole house or a crew — the 98130 three-pack.
Can I use it on stucco or brick?
No — rough surfaces tear the fine fibers. Use a woven or general-purpose cover at a longer nap.
Is it 9″ or 9-1/2″?
Richard builds this "9-inch" cover at 9-1/2″ actual . It still mounts on a standard 9″ cage; the half-inch matters only for exact frame-fit claims.
