Is this the right tool for your job?

CHOOSE THIS WHEN
  • The documented job is “How to Clean Concrete, Brick, and Block Before Coating or Repair — The Complete Guide”.
CHOOSE A DIFFERENT TOOL WHEN
  • Cutting scale, hard efflorescence crust, rust, or paint. Tampico is a soft applicator fiber — it washes and scrubs, it cuts nothing. Removal is the wire brush's job (46850, 46812, pole blocks 46809/46840); the tampico follows to wash.
  • Painting or fine finishing. Not a paint brush; it lays no film. Coatings belong to the applicator brushes.
  • Close detail and small spots. At 7" on a pole it's a field-and-reach tool; spots and vertical detail want the hand-held 4" 95005.
  • Precise hand scrubbing. When you need close control by hand, the fixed-handle 7" 95006 gives more feel than a poled head.
  • Sealing over active efflorescence. A job boundary worth repeating — treat and let dry; never trap moving moisture under a coating.

How the pros run it

01

The pole

thread on a standard extension pole (the socket is female-threaded) and match the pole length to the work — short for floors, extended for walls; a firm connection keeps the head from wobbling under a scrubbing load. Loading: charge the head heavily — dip deep and let the fiber soak; on a pole you dip less often, so capacity is doing more of the work. Driving the head: on floors, put body weight behind the pole and use long overlapping strokes; on walls, work in sections and keep the head flat to the surface so pressure stays even at reach. Cleaner safety: acids and alkalis demand gloves and eye protection, and overhead pole work with chemistry raises the drip-and-splash risk — position yourself out of the runoff, pre-wet the masonry, and follow the cleaner maker's dwell and rinse steps. Care: flush all cleaner out of the tampico with clean water immediately after use and hang the head to dry rather than resting it on the fiber; kept rinsed and dried, it lasts many seasons.

Asked before buying

BUYER QUESTIONS, ANSWERED BEFORE YOU ORDER
What does the female thread do?
It accepts a standard extension pole, turning the 7" tampico wash head into a floor and high-wall tool worked from standing height.
What is tampico?
A natural agave-leaf fiber (ixtle) that holds a lot of water and resists acids and alkalis — the traditional masonry wash and cleaner-application fiber.
How is this different from the 95006?
Same 7" tampico head; the 95007 threads onto a pole, the 95006 is a fixed hand brush. Buy by whether you're working at reach or up close.
Does it remove efflorescence or scale by itself?
No — it applies cleaner and washes off loosened material; cutting the crust is a wire brush's job (and on floors, a poled wire block like the 46809/46840).
Why tampico instead of a synthetic?
Masonry cleaners degrade synthetics; tampico survives the acid/alkali chemistry and holds far more solution.
How do I care for it?
Rinse all cleaner out with clean water after use and hang the head to dry, never resting it on the fiber.
