A knit-grade cover can shed a fiber — harmless in primer, a defect in a satin or semi-gloss topcoat — so for finish coats with sheen, step to a woven or microfiber cover of the same size.
It's wrong for gloss (wall nap stipples what gloss magnifies), for full-wall production (4" is slow; use a 9"), and for texture beyond light or any masonry (step up the nap and, on rough surfaces, the durability).

De-lint the cover before first use — a knit-grade cover sheds more than a woven one — and treat it as a short-life cover, tossing it when the nap mats after a long day. Light pressure; even a 4" mini beads paint at its ends under a heavy hand. One back-roll pass on primer to fill pinholes.

Is this the right cover for priming?
Yes — it's the line's designated whole-house priming mini for the closets, returns, and cut-in bands a 9″ can't reach. Primer seals rather than beautifies, so the budget grade is correct here.
Wash it or throw it away?
On a whole-house prime you'll wear it out; it's a cheap single meant to be replaced, not kept.
Can I do a finished wall with it?
A small utility wall, yes. For a finish coat with sheen, use a woven or microfiber cover so it can't shed lint.
Why 4″ and not 3″?
More coverage per pass on the many small areas of a priming job, while still fitting spaces a 9″ rides past.
Why not a longer nap?
3/8″ is the standard interior nap for smooth-to-light-texture drywall; longer naps are for texture and leave heavy stipple on smooth walls.
