Masonry, stucco, and rough-sawn wood shred a fine microfiber pile and out-reach a 1/2" nap — those belong to the long-nap polyester rung (e.g., the 18" Lamb Pro 47369).
A cut-up room full of windows and outlets defeats an 18" cover entirely; that's a 9" job.
And it is not the toughness cover: for an epoxy floor or an all-day hot-solvent production shift, the woven 18" (91808) survives what would fray this microfiber — beauty is this cover's job, chemistry and abrasion are the woven's.
Point it at the middle-texture finish work it's built for and it excels; point it anywhere rough, small, or industrial and a sibling does better.
Feather-light hand — an 18" microfiber loaded with paint is powerful and unforgiving
The dense pile and long nap hold a large charge; release it under the roller's weight and steer with the forearm, because pressing floods the texture and throws spatter across a big wall. Load off an 18" bucket-grid to no-drip, distribute off the wet edge, and lay off in light single-direction passes to align the stipple — the discipline that turns a filled texture into a finished one. De-lint before the first pass. Rinse thoroughly: microfiber holds paint deep in its fiber web and cleans slowly — work warm water through until it runs genuinely clear, or the trapped paint dries into a core that coarsens the next finish. System: 18" frame, bucket-grid, and a pole for the ceilings and wall tops.

What surface is this for?
Lightly-textured big interior walls and ceilings — orange peel, light knockdown — painted to a fine standard. The 1/2" nap fills the texture; the E-volution microfiber levels it toward a near-spray finish; the 18" width covers the acreage fast.
91818 or 91817?
Light texture → this 1/2"; smooth drywall → the 3/8" 91817. Same series and width — the nap is the whole difference.
91818 or 91808?
Same 18" width and 1/2" nap; this microfiber is for a fine finish, the woven 91808 for epoxy and all-day toughness. Finish → 91818; chemistry and abrasion → 91808.
Can I do a smooth wall with it?
You can, but it stipples more than a 3/8" would — save the 1/2" for surfaces with real light texture and use the 91817 on dead-smooth walls.
Why 18"?
To halve the pass count on big surfaces and keep a wet edge across the run; it needs an 18" frame, a bucket-grid, and a pole for overhead.
Rough masonry?
No — the fine microfiber tears on abrasive masonry and the 1/2" nap can't reach the craters. That's a long-nap polyester job.
