It cannot lay a showing finish coat — a 3″ chip prints brush marks and sheds — so it stays off anything the customer looks at and keeps; that is the fitted brushes' work.
It is wrong on details and narrow profiles (step to the 1″ or 1/2″), and a poor latex brush (natural bristle limp in water).
And on a genuinely large field — a whole floor, a wall, siding by the course — even a 3″ chip is slow and dry-dragging; that is roller, pad, or bristle-brush territory, with the 4″ chip (80155) the widest the disposable format sensibly reaches.
a 3″ face moves a lot of material, so flow it on in long single-direction strokes and resist reworking — critical with stripper (which you must not re-brush) and with fast adhesives that skin. Load to a third: even a wide chip drips if drowned; dip the tips, wipe one side, and lay. Keep a wet edge: at this width you're covering area, so start each stroke into the previous wet lay to avoid dry lap lines in adhesive and stripper. Disposal: stripper-, oil-, and solvent-soaked bristle is a self-heating fire cousin — dry flat and separated or drown in a sealed metal can, never wadded wet in a bag. Multiples: wide jobs eat brushes; buy a handful, because a 3″ chip locked with cured resin or contact cement is done.

What's the 3″ chip for?
Broad brush-killing coverage — stripper on doors and panels, big glue-ups, resin wet-out on larger cloth, deck-scale oil — with a brush you throw out after (§2).
How is it different from the 2″ and 4″?
The 2″ is the general field width; the 3″ moves more area on big flats while still fitting a door panel; the 4″ is for fully open slab-door and siding-scale faces (§5).
Do I need more than one?
For big stripper, glue, or resin jobs, yes — buy a handful; a wide chip cured full of material is done (§3).
Can it lay a finish coat?
No — it marks and sheds; use a fitted or foam brush for anything that shows (§4).
Disposal after stripper?
Treat it as an oily-rag hazard: dry flat and separated or drown in a sealed metal can (§3).
