What does "sharp point" actually buy me?
The ability to start a cut in the middle of a panel — pierce, then draw. A square-point knife cannot do this; it is built to refuse to puncture. That inside start is the whole reason to choose this knife.
1 or #2?
The #1 (55000) is the shorter, narrower, finer knife for tight cutouts and close control; the #2 (55050) is the longer stroke. Both are the same 17-gauge steel, so it is a reach decision, not a stiffness one.
How is it different from the Paris curve, which is the same size?
Only the blade shape — straight-to-a-point here, curved there. Nothing else in the record differs, so we sell the shape and refuse to invent a second distinction.
Do I need a cutting board under it?
