CHOOSE THIS WHEN
  • High-Density Stainless Steel Bristles: Ideal for maximum cleaning efficiency in tough, wet conditions.
  • Ergonomic Soft-Grip Handle: Ensures comfort and reduces hand fatigue during extended use.
  • The 8" Stainless Steel MAXXGRIP PRO® Scrub Brush is designed for prepping medium to large flat surfaces where maximum downward force is required.
DO NOT FORCE THE FIT
  • The dedication rule.
  • A stainless brush is only a stainless brush until the first time it touches carbon steel.
  • Run it once on mild steel and it picks up carbon particles, and from then on it deposits them into the next stainless surface — which defeats the entire purpose and, by fabricator doctrine, demotes the brush to general-carbon duty for life.
  • Keep the 46838 marked and separated; never grab it for "just this one" pass on a ferrous part ⚑(iron-contamination doctrine verified against The Fabricator, the AWS D1.6 forum, and finishing.com; Hyde's stainless alloy grade is unpublished — do not claim 304 or 316).
  • Cheap, fast cutting on plain steel and masonry. For ferrous and masonry work where there's no contamination concern, carbon is harder, faster and cheaper — that's the 46837's job, and using the stainless brush there wastes it (and risks demoting it). Match the fill to the metal: stainless for stainless/aluminum/wet, carbon for iron and masonry.

How the pros run it

01

Downward force, flat face

hand over the soft-grip handle, weight through the block, face flat — the same body mechanic as any scrub block, because broad flat pressure is the whole reason for the block form. Let the tips cut: moderate, sustained pressure and long passes; the dense .40mm stainless fill works at the tips, and leaning past the cut point only folds the wire and sets it with a permanent lean. No carbon-care ritual — one discipline replaces it: stainless doesn't need drying to avoid rust, but it does need to be kept dedicated (below), which is a storage-and-labeling discipline rather than a maintenance one. Mark it, store it away from your carbon brushes, and it will stay a contamination-control tool for its whole life.

Asked at the counter

BUYER QUESTIONS ANSWERED BEFORE THE CART, NOT AFTER THE RETURN
Why stainless if carbon cuts faster?
Because on stainless and aluminum, carbon wire leaves iron that rusts and pits the metal later. Stainless leaves none — that's the reason to own this, not rust resistance for your comfort.
Can I use it on regular steel just this once?
Don't. One pass on mild steel contaminates the brush and it can no longer be trusted on stainless. Keep it dedicated.
Does it take a pole?
No — it's a hand block with no thread, and there's no stainless pole-scrub in this family.
Is it 304 or 316 stainless?
The alloy isn't published. It's stainless wire; that's as far as the claim can honestly go.
Do I have to dry it like a carbon brush?
No — stainless won't bloom rust. But store it away from carbon brushes so it stays uncontaminated.
Same size as the carbon one?
Yes — identical 8" x 1-1/4" block and tapered nose. Only the fill metal, and therefore the correct workpiece, differs.
