Which end does what?
Trade mapping, stated as such (the claims name the ends, not their jobs): the pointed end packs filler down and along the channel; the flat bell irons the filled line flush (§1, §2a). Pack, then iron; switch ends, not tools.
How big is it?

Does it really work on masonry?
It is the only member of its line whose claims say masonry (§2c): mortar-line hairlines, packed with a cement-based filler from the masonry aisle, ironed flush — with the profile and scope hand-offs stated there.
What filler should I use?
The tool is filler-agnostic by design: joint compound on board, setting-type compound for plaster depth, cement-based filler on masonry — each material's own label governs, and the compounds come from their own aisles (trade guidance, not a claim of this tool).
My filled crack sank in the middle — why?
Drying shrinkage at depth (§2a): normal, and the method plans for it — repack the sink, re-iron, and the second pass lands flat.
Can I skip the opener and just use this?
On a true hairline, no — there is no channel to pack, and the fill becomes the skin that fails (the pair exists because the sequence does). On a crack already wide, clean, and sound-edged, the opener's work is already done and this tool proceeds.
